1970 Cutlass 350 won't start
Hello Experts,
Here's my situation. When performing interior work last night on 1970 Cutlass S (350 Rocket) I left the key in the start position (engine wasn't running), hence in the morning the battery was dead. I tried jumping the battery but it said said good night - O'Reily's confirmed the battery was toast. Bought a new battery and all I get when I try to turn the engine over is silence. I have power to the headlights, interior lights, accessories, all the goodies. All the fuses are good under the hood and on the fuse panel.
Did the solenoid burnout on the starter leaving the key on all night? How can I tell if my starter is bad. Again, when I turn the key I receive silence.
Sigh...
As always, thank you experts,
Bill

Make sure your shifter is in park and the neutral safety switch is not the culprit. You did not burn up your solenoid as it is only activated when the key is in the start position. This assumes all your wiring is stock.
