Memorial Day

While you're out and about or with family this 3 day weekend, please take time to remember those of our military that couldn't be.

Amen to that. We wouldn't have our country without them.

Here is a tidbit to digest...

Memorial Day service here at 11am tomorrow. In this part of the world it's still regularly referred to as "Decoration Day". My local SCV Camp is one of the movers and shakers behind this annual service along with the two American Legion posts.

Plan was to clean two CSA gravesites tomorrow afternoon after the service but rain may postpone that to another day. No higher honor for a deceased soldier than for someone to maintain his grave and make sure he isn't forgotten. Sometimes there are no descendants to do it, and there have been several that required chainsaws to clean off the overgrowth, they'd been neglected so long.

Remember your soldiers, and if you see a Veteran thank him.

That is a profound statement. I thank you for making it as many may not realize the significance of the day.

It really made an impact on me.

You are real. I respect that. My brother before me has two middle names because of an uncle I never knew.

Respect

FREEDOM, isn't FREE . . . It came at the cost of those who laid down their lives so we might have it, and at the cost of the families who bore the grief of their loss! REMEMBER

Memorial Day should be a solemn day. Unfortunately, for many people it has just become a time for a long weekends, cookouts and time on the lake. Those things are fine but please take a moment to remember the real reason for this holiday. It is not a time for celebration but a time of remembrance. I see that picture of the wall and remember the two people I went to school with that have their names on that wall. And please remember the families of these fallen heros. God Bless The USA.

My table is set for dinner tonight already. There will be one extra place setting at the table in rememberance of those who fell during conflict and or peace. My flag is out too.

It's the least I can do.
