Happy healthy Memorial Day to every single Vet here and out there. We wouldn't have the best country in the world without each and every single one of you. 👍🙏
Thanks Eric. This day is to honor the ones and their families who paid the ultimate price. Thank you guys but veterans get their holiday on November 11th. This is a very solemn day. May those rest in peace that paid the ultimate price.

Similar to many, many communities nationwide, in my town our town squares are named in honor of those who gave their lives for our country in World War 1. However, In World War 2, there were too many who gave their lives and not enough Squares so a Memorial Monument was placed in the Town Park to honor them. After all these years, a group has established a "Home Town Heroes Program", to honor all who died, and there are more than a hundred of these memorials all around the downtown area,. Today I was riding through downtown in the Olds coming back from visiting the cemeteries, and I saw three cars stopped to take pictures of relatives who gave their lives for our Country. Lest we forget.
My two yearly tribute here. But always on my mind. Was going to start one tomorrow. 65 years old now and still cry writing this.
REMEMBERING RAYMOND RICHARD SHIFFRIN. Friend and brother! Will never forget! Miss you always. To all Veterans! Thank You for your service!!!
RAYMOND RICHARD SCHIFRIN Will always be missed! Raymond was my sister-in-law's, Winnie brother. Raymond became part of our family. He was a good, warm, kind and gentle soul. I was only ten years old. He was always be at our home. Playing in the pool with me and neighborhood kids. He had amazing patient's. Driving me around in his 1968 GTX. Eating diner with us and decorating the Christmas tree. Something he had not ever done before, He was so excited. Every one in my family loved him. I am 58 years old now. I found his name the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial wall in Florida. I cried for over a hour, what a terrible waste!! Having trouble now as I write, to hold back the tears. Late one night. My brother Louis and a family friends. All there hands all bloody from removing the concrete lion from the public library in Rosedale into a van. And moving it to the Rosedale Vietnam Veteran's Memorial. As a more fitting honor to Raymond. They felt the small plate was just not enough. The lion, I believe sits near there today. At an early age I always thanked Vietnam Veterans for their service. Most, up to a few years ago, told me a was the first person to thank them. To all Vietnam Veterans! Thank You for your service!!!
Yes, its good to take time and remember. Not just the ones we lost overseas but those who came home and have since left us. When I was growing up it was the WWI vets that were passing. Then my Dad's generation of WWII vets. The Korea war vets and now the Viet Nam vets that we're loosing. Here's some pictures from our local National Cemetery.
Solemn remembrance to all who gave everything, and not a SUCKER nor A LOSER among any of them. This is why we can do what we do and say (mostly) what we want to.
I'm in awe of all US veterans, past and present, and I give thanks in my prayers for them. Without their sacrifices, we wouldn't have the cushy lives and freedoms we enjoy.
Thank you to all our Veterans and armed forces members !!
I pay tribute to veterans every day, I made this tribute to my father and father-in-law about 25 years ago, it hangs in our family room and I probably pass it 20 times a day ! ( on

Went to our county's Memorial Day service this morning. Our local SCV camp along with the local UDC chapter are the primary sponsors of this remembrance service every year. There are 754 county residents' names on the monument who perished in every war from the Revolution to present day.
I am grateful that all but one of my ancestors came home from whichever war they were fighting. A lot of county families lost more than their fair share.
