Good morning everyone.

Yet another beautiful day. The lack of rain doesn't bother me a bit. I think it's been over a week since we've seen any.

You know what chaps my ***, people who have to continually stick their noses where they don't belong. Or people who have to include themselves where they're not wanted. Just sayin' .

Got my mowing done yesterday and if I get myself in gear a guy is going to help me fix the mower at the shop. Seems it's seen years of people(present company included) running over hard things and bending the front of the deck in so the blade hits. We're going to come up with a sort of guard that will keep the bending in to a minimum.

Okay Awful house.

Ted, that's great news! I dont need the coffe to make my head spin. The meds make me feel dizzy pretty much all the time. Sometimes I think I know what the jump to light speed feels like first hand.

I think you meant to congratulate Scot on the job. Clint already has one....

Hola, all....

40% chance of an Elsie visit today; keepin' my fingers crossed. Highs "only" supposed to be in the low 90s.

Me mowed yesterday too, Mike. (BTW, EASY, big fella!)

Big-time congrats, Scot! Maybe they'll send you as far as Towns Co. and you can drop in for a visit.

Jamebso, it was a horrific sight, but everybody else looked so insane, my Elaine Benes moves and leisure suit were hardly noticeable. Polyester rules!!!

Welcome, 71 Rocket! (If you've been to our little corner B4, pls. Xcuse my oversight.)

Whelpt, having a friend over for dinner tonight (stuffed artichokes, grilled cluck-cluck, yeller squash, and who knows what else); and I have to finish trimming the grass before Elsie, and go to Sam's & back before I start cooking.

Have a great one, Oldsmofriends.

John you're just full of Seinfeld quips today. My Tshirts don't shrink! Din-din sounds good, you have lucky friends.

I'm just glad there isn't such a thing as an electronic red pen.

Welcome "back" 71Rocket. Nice looking car. Didn't know Kansas got so humid.

Well I missed everyone at the Awful house so I guess instead of working on the mower I'll just stay home and look at the computer all day.

Jamesbo is your mountain place close to the neighbors? I mean, when you're out in the yard can you see other houses or are they pretty far away?

Scot I don't know where we get our golf carts but they sure do take a beating. We push things with our carts, and we'd continually break the noses and mangle the little bumper between the front wheels. So now they all have push bars. They've all been painted about 20 times.

Southeast does. We average about 40 inches of precip. a year, most of it in the form of rain. Granted, this isn't as bad as the gulf coast states but I just don't take it the way I used too. Growing old I guess.

Jamesbo maybe I can completely line the perimeter of my property with Hemlocks.

Was out cleaning out the white Suburban. Don't know if I've ever mentioned the white Suburban before. It's all rusty and crusty but I liked it because it's a stick shifter and 4 wheel drive. One day while driving home from work the pinion seal went bad and all the oil leaked out of the rear diff. When I let off the gas the gears made a very bad noise and it scared me so I pulled over and bailed out. I just stood there looking at the thing idling nicely, then got back in and drove and the noise happened every time I let off. Learned real quick how to keep some power on until the very end. I continued to drive it around the yard until a bearing broke apart and one of the rollers got caught and broke a hole in the side of the pumpkin. Got a new axle and it needs to be rebuilt.

Anyway the Suburban had become somewhat of a storage shed so it all got cleaned out. Its battery is sitting on the front floor. When I lived at the other house I had this parked in my neighbor's back yard. When she wanted it gone I bought a new battery for it and took it up there and started it up. When I moved I started it to get it up on my trailer. Since I have a habit of making bad batteries, I took it out so it wouldn't go flat from being hooked up. Well, ten years later it still sits there. Two starts with it. Not one of my better moves.

Okay break is over.

Mornin all.

Anutter long day ahead just like yesterday.

Welcome to the Asylum 71Rocket

Mike, I assume you hove one filing cabinet for just vehicle titles? Looks like SW made the news pushing over a tarmac vehicle with one of their planes. Someone is sure due a donkey chewing for that.

Jamesbo. where were we at number wise with Mikes Collection before being introduced to the Dodge Van, the Jeep, and now anutter Suburban?

Ted, which FB page is that? (like I really need another page on my feed)

John, you know those suits would be worth a mint today.

well the kid had a breakdown in the Chebby yesterday down on the other side of the state. she limped it into the dealer and got er fixed, but dang that was an expensive trip. Funny to find out that dealership has a lower labor rate than mine.

Have a Thursday all.

Got a sprinkle last night. Jes enough to settle de dust

Clint, I am so lost as what Mike has it isn't funny. I guess around 25 [and counting] I would venture to guess. If he had everyone in de Awful House drive one of his cars there would still be a few parked.

Mike, I'm not sure hemlocks grow so good dis fer south and they are getting wiped out by wooley adelgid. I had to treat mine a few years back and I could'a bought a new car fer what It cost.

Maybe Leyland Cypress. De grow about a foot a year

Have a great day Olds friends

Mernin', all

Elsie flew in for 5 minutes yesterday and Sol ran behind her so fast, it made my head spin. An hour later, it was the Sahara again. Unfortunately, they're now predicting a span of 4 days with no rain and temps hitting triple digits daily. Whew... Might have to take a break from the outdoor work for a while; I have enough just in my office to keep me out of mischief for a week.

Here's how the lattice work came out. I'm pleased. I just need to put a piece or two more on the steps.

Clint, at least the inmates are running our asylum (fer the most part).

Jamesbo, I had a good run with the head thatching ... was in my 40s before my forehead started its growth spurt. I wore out a few hair driers and hot combs in the 70s and 80s.

Mike, as Jimmy Durante once said, "I got a million of 'em."

Repast last night was fab.... I also baked a few red taters & made a cornbread "stuffing" à la Pepperidge Farm. A weight gain was had by all. Hard to beat chicken on the charcoal grill, IMHO.

Have a great day o'Thor, Oldsmofriends.

Well, I set out a trap yesterday with PB & a piece of walnut meat, got up this morning and disposed of a chipmunk carcass, still trying to get the red squirrel, who was trying to pry away from the D.O.A. chipmunk, some of the bait....he's next!

Hi everyone.

I've got a new alarm clock. My boy comes to me at 1230 and I said, let's sleep until 130. He comes back at 130 on the dot. This is happening more and more. I don't know where he's learned how to tell time.

Now we have thunder. The dogs are both freaked out and there's still a little blue sky out. It's supposed to clear up a little then rain tonight. It will be the first real test of the new door on the dogs' room.

Jamesbo I don't have 25 cars. But Clint is sort of right, I have one drawer in my file cabinet for all my car stuff and it is getting a little full. Is the wooly adelgid an actual critter or is it just that white stuff that grows? I heard that Walter Reeves on the radio say once that Leyland Cypress isn't native to the south so why plant it? I like Leyland Cypress but I don't want to plant anything that my neighbor would like.

Work tonight. Seems weird starting work when the week is almost over. Eh, an airline is a weird place to work.

Afternoon people,

Went to visit wit de boys this morning. Topics all over the place from pollytiks to price of gas spiking again even though oil and the $ is slipping worse than a worn clutch. Came home and did some weeding and watering. Once that was done I mixed some 2-4-D concentrate and dispensed death to any weeds that had crept into the law. Whilst doing this out front I wreaked havoc on my idiot landlords side where the weeds grow with wild abandon. I figured WTH, I don't want those things coming into my yard. This yahoo never inspects his property but the new tenants are quite nice although when it comes to yardwork they'd have to look that up in a dictionary. So buddy landlord has a guy swing by every 2 weeks to trim the yard and cut it. I think he'll notice in 2 weeks that the side by my house is going to be void of weeds. Give him a bit of a head scratcher anyway.

Ted - I doubt it. The ferry from Tsawwassen to Duke Point is 90.00 one way. Hardly worth it to go out for a one day outing for 180.00! Have a look at their fare structures - you'll need it soon if you're driving out and going to Victoria IIRC?? BC Ferries Fares

John - your property looks very nice. Great job on the lattice young man! You're the kind of person I'd love to have for a neighbor. Here's what we got. It prolly will make you envious.

Our sister City Calgary 2 days earlier? Have a look - that white stuff is hail and in places it was up to a foot and a half deep.

Clint - WTH?? A dealer that charges LESS??? Is the repair guaranteed? Maybe they had to lower the rates to get the business...

Dan - this is going to sound weird, but try using cheerios in the trap. Apparently they are irresistible for varmints. I think it's cause they look like varmint donuts. Hey laugh all you want but it works great on voles and mice up here.

Good morning everyone.

Spent the first half of the night last night crawling on my hands an knees across the top of an airplane, looking for lightning strikes. Didn't find any. Then we went up to the top of the tail and found where a screw and washer had been burned pretty good, so we put in a new screw and washer, and painted the area around it. Looked pretty good. There were a few other fairly serious strikes that dayshift will get to finish.

Clint I was reading through the ordeal on fb. Glad it turned out okay. The lowest I remember dealer labor rates being is $33/hr. That had to be early 80s.

John you must read House Beautiful. I thought your house was blue.

Okay gonna take advantage of the extra time at home and hit the sack. Happy Friday everyone have a good day.

Mernin', all.... Temp creeping towards the triple digits today... prolly won't quite make it.

Allan, can you bottle some of that stuff and ship it down here?

And thanks fer da' compliments, Mike & Allan. The abode is a light brown.... wouldn't have chosen that color had I done it myself, but any port after a storm, or something like that... The pre-Katrina residence in da' city were blue (and we DID choose that color); but I don't think I've ever posted a pic of the ol' Gentilly residence.

Whelpt, lemme get to some chores. Have a great weekend, Oldsmofriends.

Forgot to mention, Mike Holmes has a new show called Home Free. It's based in USA this time. Last episode was a 2 storey in Stockbridge GA. Nice looking parcel of land outside of Hotlanta.

Did some electrical on the Cutlass yesterday, then put the battery in and checked all lights and blinkers. Turned the key and she cranked right over. But, no gas = no start. Damn pinion seal is leaking too? They bet ever cover that under warranty cause it's gone exactly zero miles since it was worked on. Need to move on to the cooling system now.

Hi everyone.

It was a glorious day out today and I'm happy to say that I missed pretty much all of it. Got to bed a little after 7 this morning, and the dogs didn't come get me until 230. That is unprecedented. Is it possible we're finally getting the hang of things?

Jamesbo that still seems a little high. I'll have to count the next time I mow. Sure if you want to add in the trailers and the big trucks and mowers and plastic models I might have that many. Actually I have about 100 plastic models and about 100 more to build.

John be sure to hydrate. That is the buzzword around work these days. I can't tell you how many years(yes I can, about 40) that I worked out in the hot sun all summer without drinking water. Now when I'm outside I have a gallon jug that I've frozen, keeps me in cool water all day long. Cool, clear, water. Water.

Time to hit the road. Night number two awaits. It's the weekend for you normal-types. Make it a good one.

Mernin', all.... Nudder scorcher. Spose to be 100* by the afternoon (and a high of 102 every day thru Tuesday). Uncle already!

Better half & I are scheduled to take Aunt Carmy out for dinner this evening (Middendorf's). Hopefully, a good time will be had by all. In da' mean time, it's honey-do city.

Jamesbo, thanks fer da' offer! BTW, you learnt me a new word. Me never had a single Jewish friend as a kid and thus, my Yiddish vocabulary has suffered throughout my life. So when somebody told me about 10 years ago she was going to schlep over to the bookstore, I hadn't a clue what she was referring to. Live & learn.

Whelpt, stay cool (& hydrated), Oldsmofriends.

Morning all you weekend warriors

Stunningly beautimus here this morning. Blue sky, gentle breeze and high of around 78 later. Just finished watering the lawn and flowers. Neiborhoods across the street is getting his roof done so likely it'll be noisy for the day. I'll go compete with him in the garage with my compressor and air tools.

ADL will repair the pinion seal at no charge. Called them yesterday and they started out telling me it was 1 year or 15k miles. They changed their tune when I splained it to them.
Gonna take off the rear sway bar and try different shim settings to get it away from the bottom of the pumpkin.

Home team loses, their first football game of regular season. Squeaker though.

John, I'm leanin more towards during around next year in the SE. Big easy is on the hit list if that happens. MigHt need someone to show us the good eatin and watering holes. You know anyone like dat? course this would likely be in April or May when it's not so blistering down there.

Scot, how's the new job werkin out?

Hmmmm, been watching episodes of Mayday. Scares the crap out of me, even though it's distanced by watching on the tube. It's claimed that trains and planes are the safest form of public travel in the world. Mostly the problems get isolated to design, training and human error. Then I switch to watching things like Factory Made, or How It's Made and feel better about the convenient things we enjoy in life.

Still looking for a fourth player to round out the 2016 curling season.

Good Afternoon All

Good -n- hot here already. Won't quite reach triple digits, but what does 2 or 3 degrees matter?

Gearing up for Da Cast ala Spartacaii to invade. Gotta whip the yard back into shape after I get back from hanging out with the fellers. My 1st cousin is having a baby shower.

Love the new job Al It is too good to be true Easy as pie The good thing is that they are saying the same about me. (Too good to be true) But the pay could be better. That's the only complaint here.

Whelp have a great weekend yall This is my Friday and I don't report back until Tuesday

YIKES, just looked at the long range forecast and it appears that John is sending his nasty hot stuff our way. Forecast for the 90's next week. Yuk, although that should make Jim's okrie dance for joy.

Hi everyone.

What a long night last night. Came in at the beginning of a 757 engine change, found a bad fire seal which took most of the night to fix, then turned it over right after we got the new motor up and torqued. We were all beat.

Tonight is Friday. Extra day off this weekend, which I'll take. No idea what's in store. Probably another engine change.

Scot glad you're liking the job. Hope it keeps up. You just deliver them(and pick them up I assume) or do you do any work to them? Good luck with the cast. You should all actually dress up as the cast of Sparticus sometime and take pictures.

John last year the buzzword(s) was industrial athlete. I thought it was a stretch them trying to equate professional athletes with what we do. I guess someone got paid a lot and had to come up with something.

Time to hit it. The Dodge van has been running poorly lately, don't know why. It's classic symptoms of incorrect timing. I hope I can figure something else out because I don't know where my timing light is. The AC seems to be doing okay, even though it only comes out the defrost and the heater. While not frigid, it's actually fairly comfortable while driving.

Okay have a good night everyone.

Good morning everyone.

Well not the sort of night I would have planned for my Friday. Or ever. Another guy and I spent the night fixing a broken lav hose. Luckily it was the fill hose so at least the blue juice was clean. Still made a mess all over the inside of the airplane. Turns out the line service people would dump the lav at the panel as normal, but would take a bucket of blue juice up and pour it into the top of the bowl, so the lav didn't need to be locked out. And it was the First Class lav so it had to work. The fancy people get all bent when their toidy doesn't work.

Doesn't look like there's much new around here since last night, it's gonna be another beautiful day here in the Greater Stockbridge area, so I'll check you all later.

Morning it is!

Made some screaming hot cheelay yesterday. You dont want to know the scoville rating. Needless to say is was spicy, but it also had excellent flavor.

I'd be upset to if I needed to use the toidy and it didn't werk. Will they even release the plane for service if any of the toidies don't werk?

De boy brought me a tree and 2 shrubs the seasonal section of HD was throwing out. They were a might parched but they should survive ok with some tlc. Have to find a suitable place to plant them now.

Got into the mid 80's yesterday which blew the forecast apart. Spode be hotter today. Used the steam cleaner yesterday on the stairs and they look much better now. What a surprise to see all that dirt in the wet tank!

Gotta hit the bank later to review some of my investments and make some changes. I didn't realize they were open to do that on Sunday.

Scot, how's de cast doing? They eat ya out of home again?

John, I would if I could.

Jim, what did de big city peeps say bout the trees?

Mornin,

My loader broke yesterday. The bracket that holds the clutch pedal assembly to the housing broke....umm and the housing is cast. Ever notice the only time stuff breaks is when you use it.

Allan, the skeeters are moderate. Only around for an hour or so at dusk.Make sure you prune them by at least a third, and they should grow....

Jim, Mensch? Man, I have been learning a lot about Southern lingo from you

I know I have said it before, but I am really liking my son working with me. I am taking it all in, as he will be going to University soon....

Putting my CB in my Cutlass today....then it will be a true 70's Olds

Have a day...

Ted, it's perfectly normal and acceptable that you're proud of your son.

Prune by a third? These things aren't all that big. What does pruning do to help them survive? You got me curious.
