Kwik g'mernin! Worked outside myself all day yesterday, puttin' up lattices under the porch-patio. Came out mytee fine, if I must say so myself. Today's interior house cleaning, and better half got a head start on me... so I better get caught up lest I get read the riot act....

BTW, stinkin' site slow as molasses in January today; kinda' zucks; glad I'm scootin'...

Y'all have a great resto'weekend, Oldsmofriends.

Hi everyone.

Hotter today, around 90. Still no humidity. Scot not an inkling of rain up this way.

So it's Friday. Wouldn't mind getting out early and getting a little extra sleep tomorrow. Gonna spend the afternoon cleaning up the convertible and take it to Summit for the cruise in. Hopefully there won't be a hoopty park right next to me this time.

Dan that was a good video. That was last year's show, as the guy in the white car wasn't there this year. Someday I'll have my car running again...

Jamesbo when are you going to paint the fence again?

John you got dates in mind for the next trip up?

Okay off to work. Hope everyone has a good evening, Monday(for you!) is coming up fast.

De dude is getting de hay up today so de place really looks nice.

Good morning everyone.

Another long night at work. Was working on an A330, which is a joke because I'm not EQ on the 330, plus I know precious little about it. But when you have a dumbass lead that's what happens. Poor utilization of skill. Eh, it's done with now.

I found out yesterday that the first car the National Automobile Museum raffled off was a 54 Oldsmobile. Hm. I wouldn't mind having a 54 Ninety Eight.

What a glorious morning. Coolish, not humid, sunny. I'm gonna sleep this morning and get up this afternoon and enjoy the rest of the day.

Okay have a good day everyone.

Speaking of '54 Olds, I caught a '54 Starfire in Etna Maroon on the Mecum auction last night. Didn't see what it sold for but it sure was gorgeous.

Morning all, survived the storms that rolled through here about an hour before sunset last night, a bit breezy it were, went over to Muskegon Lake to get some pics of the sun going down, and then to Pere Marquette (public beach on Lake Michigan) and managed to get a lightening pic. Posted a couple on FB. Should be a mild day, gotta get a copy of the accident report, and call the claim center to get my car repaired....oh joy.

Nudder Kwik Check-In

G'mernin, all... Not too bad this morning, but not as nice as yesterday and Saturday down here. Was in the mid-60s in the mornings over the weekend; what a rare treat for August in da' Swamp. But still nice now. No Elsie scheduled for today or likely manana.

Today's a day for finishing up loose ends. Still have a bunch of stuff outside from my lattice work. Was too bushed after housecleaning yesterday to go pick up stuff in the blazing heat. And still have piles of raked yard stuff that need to be carted to the compost heap.

Feels great to have our electric power back 100% correct... you never miss the water 'til the well runs dry....

Y'all have a great (non blue) moon day, Oldsmofriends.

Hi everyone.

I think the dogs might finally be getting the hang of this. I asked them to wake me up at 1 and they came in right at 1! Of course I've wasted an hour and a half looking at the internet(and having lunch) but heck I can see the beautiful and hot day out the windows, and in a minute I'm going out to work on the car.

Scot that's a beautiful car. What is an Etna? Named after the mountain? It should be Etna orange, like lava. Hydraulic windows no doubt, and Kelsey Hayes true spokes.

Speaking of windshear, on this day 30 years ago Delta Flight 191 crashed in Dallas after the airplane flew into a thunderstorm and encountered a microburst. They no doubt also encountered windshear in the moments before, and the event pushed them right into the ground. We now have predictive windshear equipment that can predict windshear 45 seconds in advance. Hm, August 3 doesn't seem to be a terrific day.

Okay gotta get to it. Hopefully there will be more than one Olds at the cruise in tonight.

Not making any headway on the Cutlass. Got it out from the wall. It's still on dollies and covered up. Wonder why I don't feel like working on it, I really don't like having it sit there with stuff left to do. Could be the meds talking.....I should prolly get it road ready and sell it for all the good it does taking up garage space. Frustrated

Mike it's just the name of the color that was actually a color used from '53 - '54. Code 31 see below. Changed from Empire Maroon ('51) to Regent Maroon ('52) to Etna Maroon in '53.

Yeah Allen I'm going to try. But this year I am really struggling to come up with something epic.

Hm, no black. I think my favorite color for that car would be Code 41, Cadet Blue poly.

Those marketing people must put in a lot of overtime coming up with the names for the colors.

Ah, I see it. Along with Glade Green poly. I can see not showing black, but not the green? It says, see 1952 color card. Special order maybe.

Mornin all.

Allan, You know you'll regret it if you sell. Brit hasn't gotten much love this year either. Her gears are still sitting on the shelf, and she still has a fuel leak, and lordy who all knows what else.

That sure is purty Scot.

Dan, Those pic's are great. I always only seem to have my phone handy and it doesn't really give the pic's any justice.

John, I thought you were making a Loretta's sister reference, but google taught me differently.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1N58HTNKTo

Mike Is there huge differences between the 330 and the 320?

Jamesbo, how'd the links treat you?

Sandy, I miss hearing about the jerks in the office.

Well the 12 hour race went well. We have so much to co to get ready for the trip next week. I need about 3 weeks but alas it is what it is.

Good morning everyone.

Beautiful morning. Bright blue sky and the lake is clear as glass. I think it's gonna be hot, though.

Good cruise in at Summit last night. Of course I had the only Oldsmobile. Saw my friend who thought I'd show up in something rusty and dented. Nope.

Jamesbo did you ever settle up for the Suburban?

Clint the A330 is a widebody and the A319/320 is a narrow body. The 330 I think is bigger than the 777. The 320 is the longer version of the 319, about the size of a 757. I myself don't like the Airbus, I think the way they do things is ***-backwards. Besides that we're an American company we should buy American products.

I hope Sandy finally got to meet the Colonel. He was before my time here but I know she really liked him and missed him. Adrian I think you said his car is still over there, what did he do for rear turn signals? Heck, what do you do for turn signals, as the flashing brake light isn't used. Did you guys see Love The Beast? Eric Bana's dad had a 65-ish Tbird and it had added on amber turn signals in the back. Too bad, as it bypassed the very cool sequential turn signals.

Okay got errands mowing to do this morning. Hope everyone has a good day.

I'm in trouble. I turned on the TV which was a mistake in itself, and what's on but Starsky and Hutch. I'll probably be sitting here when it comes on again at 9 this evening.

Kwik g'dafternoon

Hot as da' blazes, and the sun's not really out -- Hurry up, Elsie~!

Clint, me ain't never heard of dat Crystal song, mostly 'cuz I never tuned in to the country stations; but it's mighty sweet, just like her. What a treat for the senses that "sister" wuz. BTW, this one was in my Y.T. selections after I viewed the Crystal song:

Anybody out there cut the rug in his leisure suit whilst the DJ was spinning that tune about 40 yrs. ago? (My hand is obviously raised .) I have to admit, though, that my fave by them was Fly Robin Fly. What a lyricist it must've taken to write those masterpieces....

Whelpt, let me run; the site and/or my Internet connection is not having a good day. Just as an aside: After using Firefox for about 6 months, I find it marginally more efficient than IE; but it has its issues, as well. I just saw that supposedly the browser that comes with Win 10 is "new & improved." Gee... where have I heard that before?

Have a great day of Tiu, Oldsmofriends.

Good Afternoon Mawnin Peeps

Hotter'n two squirrels in a wool sock

But the good news is that I am finally gainfully employed. Saw a listing yesterday with the GA DOL and got a referral. They told me to apply in person this morning, so that's what I did. Application, check. Interview directly afterward, check. The owner says alright, looks good and we will call your previous bosses and references and call you if you're our guy. I say okay and head to the house. Not even 15 mins after I get back home do I receive a call asking can I work right away. Umm yeah!

So right now I pick up and deliver golf carts. And I love it. Easy work and easy pay. Amazing how busy these guys are and just how many people rely on golf carts. In half a day, I picked up or delivered 6 carts and put a couple hundred miles on the rig. I am ecstatic

Mike was it the original series or the newer release with Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller? I grew up watching the original. The remake wasn't as good to me but was worth watching.

Whelp time for supper. Y'all have a wonderful evening, I know I will

Congrats on the new job Scot! What's DOL? A job listing site or sumpin? That would fit right in with your UPS or Fedex? experience a while back. Hmmm, mebbe even wit de USPS?

Ted - Nope.

My sister came for a visit today. I loaned her a tent for her kids that are heading out camping. Good visit but the weather was cold and windy. She has a 2010 Taurus Limited AWD. I was impressed. She bought it a couple years back with 29k Kilometers and paid only 13k for a car that should have sold for around 28k at a dealer. Good deal. I thought, my son would fit in this car really well because it has more room for the driver than an upper deck passenger on an Airbus a380!! Plus the trunk has room for at least 6 bodies. Ford musta had a deal with the mob or sumpin to design trunks that big.

Clint - doesn't that bother you a bit? BTW sounds like you had a great weekend.

Jim - you are good people. Send some of that good hay Clint's way?

What's the theme other than RWYB?? Maybe we can float some ideas by you? Ever thought of using something from the boneyard to weld or plate into a trophy?? Nothing sophisticated as a Johnny 5. On the other hand, if it's for racing...how about something like this? You could rig it to run the lights I'm sure. Maybe put a speedo cluster on the top of the trophy with the speedo pegged at the speed of the pass??

Good news Scot! Hope you're good for the long haul. As it were.

We use golf carts at work. Instead of the well in the back for the clubs, we have a platform over it and that's where we carry our tools and parts. Each cart has a charger and cord reel under the platform so we can plug in wherever to charge up. Quite handy.

The Starsky and Hutch that I watch is the original series. I don't remember watching it too much when it was on originally but watch it every night I can these days. I saw part of the Stiller/Wilson when it came out, can't say I was too impressed. I did see an outtake where they dumped about a dozen Torino's into the bay, trying to get it just right. Also saw the real Starsky at the end for a brief minute, not sure if Hutch was in it at all.

That must have been some early Crystal Gayle. For awhile there her hair was dragging the floor.

Original Starsky - Paul Michael Glaser
Original Hutch - David Soul (who also went on to release a few songs - you might remember this one)

I remember watching the shows first run as a kid. Made for TV cop stuff was uber cool. Same as CHIPS, SWAT, T.J. Hooker, Miami Vice, Columbo and Hill Street Blues. Those were the good ol days. This new stuff is either too sophisticated or too predicable. The reality shows like Border Rico, Border Security et al give as good a drama as you could ask for in real life. The world has changed so much in 40 years...

Thanks Mike I believe the work is there and so shall I be. For the long haul that is. That was the trouble with the USPS and UPS, both were temporary jobs and with the USPS of course the management lacked any and all empathy. I didn't ask for sympathy but I despised being ridden like a pack mule and micromanaged by a racist, two-faced postmaster. Glad that's all behind me, now onward and upward

Hmm. I wonder if we service those at the airport?? They said 75% of my work will be local and around a 50 mile perimeter and I may travel to Atlanta, Augusta, Florida and you just never know. They also do shows and parades so there is really no limit.

Allan it seems like I've heard that before but never knew that was him. Definitely 70's. I think my favorites were Emergency!, B J & The Bear, Starsky & Hutch and later C*H*I*P*S, MacGyver, Dukes of Hazard and The A Team.

Scot, congrats on the job. Well, John I went to the disco bars for the purty girls, not the music, but I'm quite sure that many of the songs would "ring a bell". Speaking of Starsky n Hutch n David Soul, he was married to the green eyed actress that was in Rambo II, that was his contact/help in the movie, not that I noticed .

Evening all, might chilly this morning finally but my work jacket was off by 7 this morning.

Yeah that video I shared pretty well summed up every main issue that comes up these days, no one gives a hoot then they all want heads to roll because some jerk tells them to

For us to buy a good size truck like what you have over there (both sides of the border) it would cost an arm and a leg. Some of the newer ones go for 6 figures

Nice car Scot. I think there would be a chance of Tink even getting in it, she hates convertibles.

Bed time folks, take care,

Adrian

Scot, congrats on the job.

Mike, Thanks for the lesson.

Adrian, hope winter is treating you well.

Allan, Yes it does, but life is very busy right now, and she'll just have to wait. The wife and kid are always the priority and the rest will have to wait it's turn.

Have a humpday all.

Morning

Cool n cloudy. Sorta like a fall day here.

Clint, I get it. I guess I have other life issues clouding my perspective.

Adrian I looked at truck prices in Oz a couple years back and was quite shocked at the prices. Any good reason for the 3x price differences you know about? I doubt they're built a lot different for Oz than they are for NA.

Ted, I booked Vancouver last week. Heading out on Aug 27 and return Sept 1. The boy will have the house all to himself. Good thing he's not a party animal.

Last cuppa koffee I had was last Thorsday. Before that it was over a month ago. Kinda miss it but I decided to cut down my caffeine, not that I've noticed much difference.

Head out to Costco later. Turns out I can get a 20 pounder of propane for just under $7.50 That's a screaming deal - I've been buying it at the local gas station for $22.00 a fill last couple years. Seems their prices go up a couple bucks every year even though gas and oil is way down on the markets.

Bought new custom furniture on Monday. It's going to take a bit of time to get built and delivered though. Biggest issue was choice of material. I didn't like what the missus was picking so we compromised. She got her choice and I just shut up. I didn't want a bonus chill in the air although it would save electric cost of running the new AC.

Enjoy your day.

Mornin,

Same here, cool...

I have my son working for me for the month...great to have him around

Allan, I like 2 or 3 mugs a day. Anymore than that makes the old head spin!

Congrats on the job Scot! A few folks buy carts around here to use on their properties.

Clint, could not agree with the priority thing more!

I joined the olds site on Facebook that Brian set up. Kinda cool.

Have a day
