I had forgotten that Game 7 of the Pistons vs. Magic series was on today or I would have recorded it and would be watching it now. I see the Pistons won pretty handily. I'm watching Game 7 of the Lightning vs Canadians right now that aired earlier. Close game. After it's over I'll be watching the Round 2 opener between the Avalanche and the Wild.
Yeah, it was a good game. Detroit will play Cavaliers.
Cool. I usually don't follow the NBA until deep into the playoffs, but with the Pistons having a good team this year I'll be following them more closely from here on out.
I'm at work extra early so I can again park in my preferred parking space. For at least an eon, I've parked in the front space, one row over from the turnstile. I can park a little into the stripes, and no space behind me. Some of these clowns in the lifted pickups don't get the concept of not hitting the car next to you with your door. For the last couple weeks some dolt in another part of the shop has been parking in my space. He's relatively new but has been here long enough to know the green Charger always parks in that space. I can't imagine what he's thinking. Maybe today he'll get the message. And if that doesn't work, I'll bring the car up here and just leave it for awhile. That should get the message across.
Chris those guys are waiting for you to put your freshly washed car out on the driveway. I haven't had a Miller High Life in ages. That's what I used to drink. Then I got on the kick of Genuine Draft. I don't really drink beer anymore but once in a while I'll buy Killian's Red to have at home, and if I'm out I get Coors Light. But I couldn't tell you the last time I had a beer.
Jamesbo you are, of course, absolutely right. I know you had a Jag back in the day. But my feeling is, if she's interested in a Gamma Goat, then she's a keeper. I mean, if she likes what I like, and not interested in just another pretty face(the car of course, not me) then how could I go wrong? Hm.
Well I won't be working on my yard this week, I'll be getting ready to go to my sister's. I didn't realize Mothers Day is this weekend and we're going to visit, because it's also my little nephew's birthday. Today and Wednesday I'm taking Mom to the doctor after work, and Friday I'm taking Tiger to jail. And maybe one day a friend of mine is going to come over for a little while. That leaves me one day to get the pickup cleaned up and filled with firewood to take to my niece for her fire pit. Nice of Mom to take up two of my days in a week.
So Happy Monday everyone. Hope everyone has a good week.
"Champagne of Bottled Beer" . C'mon Chris, clear bottles!! I also usta drink Millers, until it got to almost $4 a six pack, then went to Falstaff, Drewerys, Milwaukee's Best, Old Milwaukee- yep cheap stuff but at that time I consumed a lot. How much is a six of Millers now? Looks like a beautiful day starting this morn, I hope it gets to spring soon!

Mike - Between work, getting your Mom to her appointments, and getting ready to travel, it sounds like you're going to have a hectic week! Good luck!
The month of May in general is crazy for me. Our anniversary is on the 8th, then Mother's Day, then Dawn's birthday on the 18th, and my daughter's birthday on the 27th.

Greg - 95% of the time I buy cheap beer. I know it sounds blasphemous with me living in St. Louis, but I've never been a big fan of the Anheiser Busch products, and they rape the locals here charging outrageous prices because they can get away with it due to brand loyalty. There's a store near me that sells the 30-pack of Miller cans for $18 (includes tax) which works out to $3.60 per six-pack. Not too bad. I hope Spring gets there for you soon!
Do you have a drink of choice when you do drink alcohol.
I like to have a beer or 2 with my dinner, especially with Italian, BBQ, or spicy stuff like most Mexican or the spicy Chinese I had the other night. Otherwise, I don't drink during the day or evening. We don't keep any hard liquor or wine in the house. If I do drink hard liquor I'm partial to Gin and Tonics, or a shot of decent Bourbon now and then.
Procrastinated starting my lifting workout this morning which then set me back on getting out to mow. Got the front and sides done and then a gully washer blew in full bore with lightning, heavy winds, and torrential rain. It only lasted about 15-minutes, but that quickly ended any more mowing for today.
Need to get out to a store with a good selection of cards to get an Anniversary Card, Mothers Day Card, and Birthday Card for Dawn real soon! There I go procrastinating again!
Having one of these frozen pizzas for dinner. I've had them before but for some reason kind of forgot about this brand. They have them at our local Walmart. It's a very thick pizza with alot of toppings and a ton of really good Mozzarella cheese. They have several varieties, I get the 5 meat. They're not real fast to make though because of how thick they are, taking 18 to 20-minute to bake depending how done you like it, and then at least 8-minutes to cool so you don't burn your mouth. They are worth it though, super delicious!
You got me going on those homerun pizzas from Wally, Chris.. Man that pizza you show I will check out- looks like lotsa stuff on it!
Greg - Our Walmart still supposedly carries the Home Run Inn pizzas, but they never seem to have them in stock when we want to buy them? We get most of our Walmart stuff delivered these days. I had asked Dawn to order me some Home Run pizzas, but again they were out of stock, and then she saw these Pep's Drafthaus pizzas were available and she remembered I had liked them in the past so she ordered me 4 of them. Comparing the Home Run vs the Pep's Drafthaus is like comparing Apples to Oranges, completely different types of pizza with completely different tastes, but both very good. I'd have to give the nod to the Pep's Drafthaus though, JMO.
Good Morning guys, Yesterday was really nice, a little cool and windy. This morn geese were out close to shore at neighbors, Buddy was having a fit so I let him out to "go git 'em". Boy was that fun! Simple pleasures for man and dog. Yuk yuk!

I was chuckling just picturing Buddy going after those geese! 🙂
I plan on staying off the roads this evening. Dawn has to take Maggie to a 1pm Vet appointment but should be home well before folks are getting off of work.
We had more storms roll thru again after Midnight last night. That put the nix on me finishing up my mowing in the back yard. Another batch is supposed to be rolling in about the same time Dawn has to head to the Vet. I don't like that. I'd just go ahead and drive her, but someone needs to stay here with Monty because he'll be freaking out as a new batch rolls thru. I'm really tired of these Spring Monsoons.
Well, we didn't get real good news on Maggie at her Vet visit regarding her gimpyness. She is suffering from Luxaine Pattella, the act of which is a Luxating Pattella, or a kneecap that is or has been moving out of it's normal position in front of and just below the Femur. This condition in dogs is usually caused by one of 4 things, or a combination of the 4, that include:
- Genetic poor alignment of the rear leg structure (bowed legs)
- Excessive weight
- Developing Arthritis with age
- An injury where the kneecap has been knocked out of place
Maggie is suffering this condition in both knees, primarily due to the first 2 causes I listed above. She was treated by the Vet today with low dose ("cool") infrared therapy which is suppossed to reduce inflammation and promote healing. She was also given an anti-inflammatory drug and a pain medication. She will go back weekly for at least 3 additional infrared therapy sessions. For now we're supposed to reduce her activity, no stairs, no jumping, no horseplay with Monty. Long term we've got to get some weight off her which will be easier said than done.

Pizza Party in downtown Detroit in thirty minutes.................
Gonna turn it on in just a second. It would be fun to be there! Dad took us to a few games at the old Cobo Hall when Bob Lanier and Dave Bing were the stars there!
Thanks Greg! She's a tough 'ol girl, but she's been dealt a tough hand simply because of her genetics. We just want to do everything we can for her to make sure her quality of life is as good as it possibly can be for as long as she's with us. I've never had a dog any sweeter or more affectionate than she is!

I’ve been to The Palace of Auburn Hills several times.
The game is chaotic but fun to watch.
Jim - Did you know/ever meet Stanley Edward Maples?

It was a long-shot. He was from Whitfield Co. (Dalton), GA, he was a real estate developer & father of Trump's 2nd wife (Marla Maples). He passed in 2024. Considering his age group, his property development & businesses (*** North), his county commissioner roles, etc. in the very North-End of Georgia I was thinking you may have heard of him during your own more active years of real estate development. As stated - it was a long-shot.
Went up to Grayling and bought some Old school aluminum slotted wheels for the truck- Hard to find in 5x5.5 pattern.
Greg - Those wheels look to be in pretty darn good shape. I had a set like that on the '66 Mustang I had in Highschool. What truck are you putting them on?
