The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Mike - I hope Tiger's hearing isn't permanently damaged and his ears don't start bothering him again. Wish you both lots of luck with it!
Good morning guys,
Sunshine and mid-80's here today and tomorrow, and we may set another record high temp today. Then alot of rain moving in for the 2nd half of the week.
I had fun watching alot of College hockey and basketball over the weekend, although most of my teams bowed out. The University of Michigan is left to carry the torch in both the Men's Hockey and Basketball Final Fours, and the Women's Basketball Final Four.
Keegan has a hockey game tonight at 6:15. Gabe has 2 games later this week, I believe on Thursday and Friday evenings, but I need to double check, it's hard to keep up with their schedules. I'm glad my daughter wrote out their schedules for me!
No other big plans for me today. Hope everyone has a great one! 😃

Wow, where is everyone???
Pretty boring day, until I went to Dollar General. I had bought a 10-pack of Duracell AAA batteries there on March 16th, warranteed on the front of the package as being good for 10-years from date of purchase. I opened them today to use 3 for our Fitness Scale. Tried 3 of them, no power. Tried 3 different ones, no power. Tried them again in known working TV remotes, no power. None of the 10 had any power, WTH? Took them back up to Dollar General to get a refund. "Sorry Sir, we can't refund them because it's been longer than a week." I said hey, people don't buy a 10-pack of batteries to use all in one week. They buy them in advance to be prepared for when a device does stop working, and it says on the package good for 10-years. Plus, I told them, my wife and are in here probably 5 times a week, spending at least a thousand dollars in here a year. I said, are you going to refund my money, or am I going to have to escalate this to a higher level manager or the media? They promptly refunded my money! Fuch wads!!!

Greg - Thanks! No they weren't that old. The individual batteries themselves were marked with an expiration date of 2030. I have no idea why every one in the pack was dead as a door nail? All I can figure is there was a batch manufacturing defect?
Liquid diet for the next 48hrs. Diverticulitis. Stomach started bothering me Saturday afternoon, let up a bit, but after three days I thought that I should hit the walk in clinic at my Dr.s place. If does not change, I get to see a gastrointestinal Dr., If it worsens, I was instructed to go to the E.R. and get a cat scan. I don't know if I can stomach that! Pun intended.
Good morning everyone.
Been busy all morning here at Big D but don't have a lot to show for it. Wonder how that happens. I'm leaving early to take Mom to the doctor.
Funny with all this diverticulitis talk, Mom is going to the gastro place. Not for diverticulitis, though she gets that. My grandma used to get it as well. Mom has a long list of foods she doesn't/can't eat because little bits get stuck and cause irritation. Sounds awful. Hope it doesn't take too long to get over it Dan.
So it's April Fool's Day. When I was little I was very gullible. People could tell me anything and I'd believe it. Because I was taught not to lie. Why would someone intentionally make something up and try to fool someone with it. Then for awhile I didn't believe anything. I'm still somewhat of a skeptic.
I guess I need to start thinking about fertilizing my lawn. It's mostly dandelions, but after I mow the whole place is green. I'd like to have a nice front lawn. A friend of mine is a freak about his lawn and it looks like a golf course. He's tried to advise me in the past, but so far a nice lawn evades me. I'll see what he says this time around.
Gonna be nice today, and hopefully the rest of the week and weekend. Hope everyone has a good day.

If you are seriously thinking about putting down fertilizer with chemicals for pre-emergent weed control, there are optimum windows for the best results. For example, chemicals for crabgrass prevention usually need to go down earlier than those for broadleaf weed prevention. You can get a timetable for those optimum windows for your area on the internet.
I love cherry trees! I want to have cherry trees that look like Washington DC. First the grass has to get done. I put a preemergent down last year, though it was the latter part of May, and it didn't do one derned thing. I figured it wouldn't, I just wanted to spend 70 bucks. One of my plans for this weekend, since it will be 5 days long, is to get fertilizer and learn how to do it right. It's gonna take a couple years but my friend says a wonderful stand of bermuda grass lurks just below.
Chris your yard looks so nice. You should get the 442 out and park it by the side, and take a picture with the cherry tree in the back ground.

Thanks Mike, I sincerely appreciate the compliment on my yard. I only care about the front and sides. The back doesn't get any care other than mowing because Dawn doesn't want the chemicals in the back because of the dogs.
Thanks guys. Apparently the treatment has now changed, they no longer use antibiotics. If my condition stays the same, I will have to have a colonoscopy to see just what is going on, after that, I have no idea what treatments are available.
Suggest you see a real M.D. who knows what they're talking about because that P.A. is full of B.S.
Earlier today Dawn ordered a bunch of groceries for delivery from Walmart. One of the things she ordered was a 5lb. log of normal (not extra lean) Ground Beef. Now keep in mind, for us Walmart is almost always the cheapest place around for any grocery items. The damn Ground Beef is up to $6/lb., $30 for the 5lb. log! Can anyone say AFFORDABILITY!!! My gosh are things out of control! 🤪
--Well, Buddy and I been gettin up early for last week or so cuz I still can't hardly breathe unless thru my mouth. As I mentioned, my snot is like glue! So it's a way to pass time posting...
-- I think I told you I tried a hobby of "Flipping" rider mowers. I would buy them for $50 or $75 and fix them up- usually get $450 or so for a decent one. Seemed like a good gig- parts are really cheap on Amazon and most stuff available. But I found out that what most people around here do is use them until they quit, then go buy a new one. Then leave old one out in back yard for 10-15 years or so. Then finally decide to sell old junk rider on Facebook Marketplace. By time I buy them the tires won't hold air, belts are shot (cracked), and of course what was wrong with 'em when left in yard....So what I would have to do is try to start to determine what was wrong, after getting started, if it ran ok, I would try to mow with it- then if worth it, fixed it up, w/ new cheap battery,, belts and bearings, blades as needed. I learned that it was frustrating keeping on finding new problems. Anyway it took me a long time to wait on parts. Last spring I had a few mowers and I offered delivery within 50 miles. Problem was I would keep ordering parts- repairing as I went along, I kept discovering more problems, on and on. I had a few mowers ready but it was now late in season- August- I found no one would buy them. So I kept 'em over the winter.
-- Now it's April and the snow is gone but no new grass yet. I put 2 of them on Facebook- a nice older one for $450 and a sort of junker that someone had swapped a smaller engine into for $300. Both run and mow fine. I been getting people who want me to guarantee the mowers, they also want to tell me they will buy 'em if I deliver. NO-that's not how it works- They need to come and look at mower, buy it if they like and then I will take to their house after paid for. Well these people want a new mower which is about $1795- (18 hp-42 " cut at TSC) with a warrantee... for 400 bucks.
-- Ok I'm rambling on- wifey still asleep.. I have 2 more mowers that aren't done yet, after I sell them, I'm not buying anymore ,Sorry for long story....

Norm. you're right on seeing an M.D. My plan was, If I feel that I am not seeing improvement, I would contact my doctors office. Chris, That's cheap for ground beef around here, most stores want $7-8 lb. including wal mart and Aldi's. I usally pick it up at the butcher for a buck or two less. Greg, a friend of mine used to rebuild car engines on the side. he did a decent job, and was far less than any local garage. If someone wanted a guarantee, he would say it's guaranteed until it leaves my property. I find that more and more, people want everything to damn near be given to them in the used item market.
Greg - I hope you turn the corner on the congestion soon! 🤞
You and Dan are both correct, there are so many people out there that want something decent (or better) for nothing. That's exactly why Dawn has pretty much shut down her furniture refinishing except for repeat customers with special orders where the price is agreed to upfront, with an initial down-payment.

Good afternoon guys,
Took advantage of the short break in the rain drops and went out and mowed. Just got in a few moments ago. The rain is supposed to start again within the next hour. We've had so much rain lately it needs mowing every 3rd or 4th day at the most.
Gabe has a hockey game tonight at 8:45 that I'm going to. No other big plans for today. Hope everyone has a great one! 😃

Chris - I'm pretty sure I've previously posted my Tabouleh (Tabouli) recipe, I do know I've previously posted images of the Tabouleh I make. Jim comments each time I make it "You know the difference between parsley & *****? No one eats parsley." Sometimes I use mint as it can impart a delicate soft flavor, most times I don't use mint. Tabouleh is one of the most ultra healthy items you can eat. Originated in Syria & Lebanon.
Those fresh blocks of Feta cheese melt in your mouth when eating Tabouleh. Most Asian Tabouleh recipes employ a higher ratio of vegetables-to-bulgar, American Tabouleh (Tabouli) recipes are basically the opposite employ a higher ratio of bulgar-to-vegetables (figures, right?).

Dan - That's a bunch for sure! We're in a stretch of periods of rain on and off thru Saturday, seems like it's never going to end. We're suppossed to have more strong storms going thru later tonight into the morning. I hope it stops for you soon so you can get your Olds out and start enjoying it again! 🤞
Dan, I hear ya, buddy! Chris, I'm sad to hear Dawn has stopped the furniture work. I thought that would be good to do cuz it seems to me everything is completely as-is- No warrantee. Not too much could go wrong it seems. Maybe a drawer could stick... Anyway she has a talent in that.
