Well I would have driven the Charger, but now my friend says he doesn't want to go, and I'm not going to go by myself. I really should go, it would be a good show, and I hate letting others dictate what I do. Eh, I'll stick around and get a few things done.

Cold as a mother out. Just came home and the temp in the car said 18* . And windy. Supposed to warm up next week, hope that ain't a lie.

Get to sleep in tomorrow. Bears might be on to something, hibernating during the winter. Have a good night everyone.

Norm - That is really something for your neck of the woods! I hope your heating system is still holding up OK?

Everyone else, I try will try to get caught up with what everyone's been doing in the morning, it's been a long day. About 380-miles of driving and not much good news on the hockey games. Keegan's team has lost all 3 of their games so far in Iowa, and have one more chance for a win at 8am tomorrow. Gabe's team lost both their games, 4-2 and 6-3. The only bright spot was Gabe scored both his team's goals in their 1st game, and two more in their 2nd game. I'm hitting the sack!

-8 this morn.. Looks like Purple Elvis will ride again today. Sposta be sunny and in the 20's today- a heat wave! Mike, I have found that going on excursions by myself is fine.. Go alone to your car show. Since I've moved up here I don't have any car buddies around. So the last 2 years I have been going on trips w/truck and trailer all alone. It's not bad! I talk to everyone I see. (I resemble those people who are turning into their parents on TV)

HVAC (Trane) combination pump holding its own (remarkably). Awoke to ~14" of the white stuff w/ numerous 2' - 3' snow drifts. Not a single vehicle to be seen on any of the snow packed roads. Electric remained ON (thank GAWD). Snow to stop w/in next two hours giving way to freezing rain remainder of the day. Strong winds ~30 mph - 40 mph gusting to 50 mph.

All hail Purple Elvis!

That's right.

We were entering a nice spring thaw until this stuff happened. No reason for me to leave the house & I'm not trying to muster up any reason to do otherwise.

One of my brothers in Michigan U.P. wrote to me last night:

We had minus 21 3 days in row. With wind chills - 30 to 40 below. That makes your nose hairs stick together.

Mike - I think remaining close to home is your best choice in light of the fact it's colder than a mother.

I've been reviewing the Duke Energy Power Map over the past 24 hrs. to gain some understanding where power outages are occurring. Nothing directly around me until this morning. There is a power outage directly across the street from me affecting 541 customers w/o power. And, I mean directly across the street. First reported @ 7:54am, cause unknown at this time, status = assigned, Estimated Time of Restoration: Repairs and Damage Assessment Underway.

Norm - Glad your HVAC is still holding up, and your electric has stayed on! 👍 I sure hope any potential freezing rain is minimal. Sure don't want you ending up like all those poor people across Tennessee in the last storm. 🤞 Stay safe!

Yes, the Nixon Hockey Club is certainly feeling like this year's Blackhawk's fan this year!

No kidding. The reason I have the block heater plugged into the diesel tractor w/ a full tank of fuel - it may become an impromptu homeless shelter.

Damn, Norm, ya got some Northern type of snow going on there. I hope that you keep your power, it would suck to lose it in those conditions. Mike, Jim, hope it's a little better for you guys. I've been fighting a **** a$$ cold since yesterday. Haven't had it like this in years. O.J. Dayquill, and later thera-flu. Then, just because, I bent over, and twang! something pulled in my lower back, having a hell of a time getting rid of that pain. Now I'm hobbling around like a decrepted geezer. I would have liked to gotten out to head to the big lake to get some winterscape pics at the channel. We finally got some sunshine, and the lighting would have been great for pic taking. Guess I'll just have to wait.

From my front & side house windows I can view four apartment buildings w/o power just down the street. Their roofs stick out like a sore thumb. Not a single snowflake on any roof while all other homes/buildings nearby have snow covering their roofs. Not difficult to determine who has better attic/roof insulation (or none!).

I think the cooking is done. The kitchen is a mess and the freezer is full of leftovers. I make a mess when cooking and clean up the next day usually.

The pizza was tonight. I think I hit it right. It needs 27 minutes, not 28 minutes, and to stand for 15 not 10 min.
Stroganoff, last night, needs the meat cut much smaller. The rest is good.
Lasagna I can do all day, every day.
Yankee ribs aren't really baking. Pressure cook the ribs, then oven with sauce.
The pot roast I did not get an after picture of. That is after browning meat, sauteeing veggies. I need more flour in there to make gravy happen better. It then gets baked in the dutch oven for 2.5 hours. Good, just no gravy.
Grilled cheese is easy, but also easy to overcook. 2 min one side, then 1:45 the other side as it's hotter.
Chicken manicotti needs longer boiling of the pasta, better shredding of the chicken, thicker sauce, and more zip. First time on that one.

Hey guys,

Well, Dawn went to the game with us this afternoon and I think she was the lucky charm, and I was rewarded for all that driving. Gabe's Mom, Dad, and little brother even made it there from Iowa before the game started.

Boy did we enjoy a dandy of a nail biter! Gabe's team was playing the 3rd place team in their league and Gabe's team is in 7th place, a huge difference. Gabe scored the 1st goal of the game, and then went on to score his team's 3rd goal to tie it 3-3 late in the 2nd Period. Then with 3:50 left in the game he got his hat-trick for the game winner, 4-3. He's got his game face on in the 1st pic and came out of the gate on fire. Of course he was given the Game MVP hat (2nd pic)!

Trucks' batteries dead. After prying snow/ice off F250 hood, I have both the heater block & 40-50 yr. old Schumacher battery charger plugged in. Sometimes the best laid plans aren't worth a 💩💩💩

Good morning everyone.

Bright and sunny out. Headed toward 50. Not looking good for the groundhog to not see his shadow. Eh, what does some rodent know. Gonna be 60 later this week. Now if that isn't an early spring then I don't know what it.

Norm can you determine why the batteries are dead? Bad batteries or bad charger? I hope you get some of our warm(ish?) weather to get rid of some of that snow.

Chris win or lose sounds like the trip(s) were a success. Glad the family got home safe from Iowa.

Speaking of Iowa, people with just enough knowledge to be dangerous think I'm from Iowa. I'm originally from Moline, IL, which is part of the Quad Cities and one of the cities is in Iowa. So some people think the whole area is in Iowa. Nope. There's actually about 8 or 9 cities that make up the Quad Cities. Maybe they can't count.

Got a bunch of errands to run today and some stuff to do around the house. Best get to it. Hope everyone has a good day.

Mike - The truck hasn't moved for several days. For the past several days temps. have been lower teens>mid-teens wind chills ~0°F w/ truck pointing directly into a North wind. What I should have done far, far earlier was to put the truck in the man-cave. Why did I not do this? Battery in JD ZTR mower was dead & it was in the man-cave. With the Schumacher battery charger attached to the truck for one hour it fired over. Allowed the truck to idle for one hour in place. Took only 15' to fire up the JD ZTR mower. North side concrete driveway has drifts 2'-3' deep. Even w/ low 4x4 I can't get thru that stuff & it's currently a solid sheet of ice under the snow as it begins to melt what little it's melting. Thank GAWD the power did not go out - I would have been in deep do-do. Had the power gone out, the final straw would have been to charge the truck with the Schumacher battery charger plugged into the portable generator. Thankfully I fired up & tested the generator (at least). Well, I have no immediate need to go anywhere for sure. The road(s) are completely frozen over w/ the worst possible snow/ice - the type with water laying over ice. Very treacherous. I'm content watching it melt for another day or two. I'll attach both the block heater AND the battery charger to the truck before retiring this evening. Ya'll would laugh at me if I posted an image of my Schumacher 10A 6V-12V battery charger. I might take a picture of it later on.

Dammit! Covid strikes again. After three days of feeling like crap, I went to the walk in clinic at my Dr.s medical center, got swabbed, and got the results. $100.00 for the Paxlovid. W/O insurance the pharmacy said it would have been $1000.00.

Shoveling ice/snow is for the birds. Developed a nice knot on the RH lower back from shoveling. Called it quits. Dropped two 650mg extended-release Acetaminophen hoping to remain ahead of the curve.

Ha! My Shumacher 6V-12V battery charger puts out a seriously whopping 4 amps. Not sure why I thought it was 10 amps. Thankfully it works none-the-less. I've tried killing it on several occasions throughout the years - it won't die.

Ooops. It's a Schauer not a Shumacher. Doh!

Greg - Got up to 45° here today with sunshine. Sure nice to see some of this crap melting. With as much snow as we got this time right now is the perfect storm for possibly developing a roof leak in the area of a particular roof "dead zone" where I've had leaks in the past. I'm happy to report no leaks so far. They must have done a good job putting on the new roof last summer. Thanks for the congrats to Gabe!

Has Linda been getting any more of her hearing back, I've been wondering how she's doing?

Perhaps in the long of it, it might not have done me any good, anyways. Snow drifts are 2' - 3' in the back yard. I'm content watching this crap melt. I 'might' be able to get down the driveway onto the road tomorrow, but again - I have food. No pressing need for me to bust a nut.

Norm - Sorry to hear you hurt your back, I hope it doesn't get too bad!

I do have an old Schumacher that I bought in '85 when I bought my first house. It's very versatile because it has 2/10/50 Amp settings. I love having the 50 Amp starter setting if a battery is completely dead.

Chris - Thanks. I haven't hurt my back - yet. It's at that point where any further shoveling will likely rip it up.
