I'm seeing predicted windchill of -40°F to -50°F in North Dakota. Those F'ers will be out ice fishing don't ya know, eh?

Okay here's me defending the car I want out of. It isn't a lemon, as in constant different problems. In GM's infinite wisdom they've made it too complicated to fix. And this goes for anything they make these days. And I've read that other people with other problems can't get parts to fix their cars, rendering them useless and worthless. Well, 12c a hundred...

My plan -should- have been to pay the loan down until I wasn't upside down and then just sell it to whoever or wherever for whatever I could get. If I wasn't without a truck I probably would have done that. I really, really want to get away from all the electronic bullshit on cars these days. Heck, I'll be driving my Valiants after the apocalypse.

I told someone that and he said someone's ring door bell will see it and turn me in. I said no I'll do it at night when it's dark.

Well the deal is done. I left the troublesome Cadillac and came home in a 2021 Ram 1500 Longhorn. Drives nice, is comfortable, and is nothing like what I was shopping for. Was only there an hour this time. If the sun ever comes out again I'll get a picture.

So far it's still in the 40s. Rain tomorrow maybe? Got no plans. It's been a long couple of days. I'm gonna sleep in and then do nothing.

Hi guys,

Somehow I got logged out of the site. Had to find my damn password and finally found it!

Mike - Nice job getting out from under the SRX! I hope you enjoy your new Ram! 👍

Colder than a well diggers **** here! 4°F at 8:30 pm, sustained winds of 15mph giving us a windchill temp of -15°! Just brutal! We've seen a few light flurries but the real snow is suppossed to start in tomorrow around noon and continue thru noon Sunday. They're calling for 8" - 12" in our area. Needless to say both the boys hockey games for tomorrow have been canceled.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, and if you're in the path of the bad weather stay safe.. 😀

It's 8 here in the Evil. My heat pump is keeping up and running pretty much all the time. It hasn't reached for the strips yet, it usually does that around 0. I've got some wood and propane and a propane heater, so I can have some alternates, but I am staying on the electric only through the storm if the power holds.

Just cooked and worked in the kitchen today.

Temperatures remained in the 40s last night. Temperatures expected in the mid-30s throughout the day, today. Windchill temps. expected in the mid-upper 20s - nothing catastrophic so we'll dodge a bullet, here. Among us it looks like Keith is the winner w/ -33°F windchill.

-15 this morning! Coldest I have ever seen it on my remote thermometer.
Mike, glad you got rid of that SRX- what a pain. I was thinkin, a car like that needs to get sold to a tech who works at a GM dealer. Oh also in a state that doesn't require a emissions test. The tech could drive it around and then as problems crop up he can set it up on his employer's diagnostic set up and keep at it until it is fixed. Good training for tech, and maybe a way to get a Cadillac on the cheap.. A friend had a 1985 (or so) speed boat with trailer that was his Dad's who died. Absolutely perfect shape with a 454 Chebby inboard that had frozen and cracked. He never knew if it was just a freeze plug or maybe just a cracked manifold or cracked engine. He couldn't get anyone to look at it, he sold it real cheap to a boating enthusiast who was a mechanic. Your SRX reminded me of that.

Good morning everyone.

Still in the 40s. Haven't seen a weather forecast but I'm sure they are all screaming gloom and doom.

My plan for the day is keep living. I'm doing inside chores while the laundry is going, then going to Awful house for lunch, then at some point back to the Dodge place. There's a bed rail cover missing from the truck and the salesman ordered a new one and it will be here today some time. Then retire to Mom's for the evening like every other day. Weather be damned.

Chris be careful if you have to get out in that mess. Do you keep stuff in the car for emergencies? My dad was a traveling salesman, and in the winter he kept a duffle bag of stuff, like clothes, snacks, and in the trunk he'd put sand bags or cement, and car stuff for winter. I don't recall him ever using that stuff but heck when you're on the road all the time in the midwest winters, best be prepared.

Jamesbo I don't think there's been lighters or ashtrays in cars for years. No wonder I have no place to put my spare change. I was cleaning out the console in the SRX and found some very old, very gross Tic Tac's. Also a couple bucks in change. And about a zillion gas receipts.

Thanks Greg. I have a feeling I know what the fate of that car is going to be and it makes me sad. Eh, what am I gonna do. It had reached the end of its useful life with me so it had to go. I've long outgrown the notion that cars have anthropomorphic feelings so whatever happens it won't care. But my only hope is that someone gets it who can put it to good use and not waste an otherwise good automobile and send it to the recycler prematurely. I don't understand why the cars have to be made -that- complicated, other than to just sell more cars.

Okay gotta see about the laundry. Hope everyone has a safe weekend. Staying inside doesn't have to be so bad...

Greg - Man that is cold! I had checked temps up there late last night and had told Dawn they were reporting -13°F actual Temp in Battle Creek, and that I didn't remember it ever being that cold when I lived up there!

Hi guys - I slept in and it was snowing already when I got up at 0830. It's 4°, with -14° windchill. Dawn said the weatherman downgraded the projected snowfall totals for our area to 6 to 8-inches by Sunday afternoon. Guess we'll see???

Mike - I carry a heavier jacket, gloves, boots, and small shovel in the back of the car when weather conditions are like this and I have to be out. If I were on a trip I'd have more of an emergency kit with water, snacks, etc. Thankfully I have no reason to be out in this crap!!!

I hope everyone is well and stays safe if they are in the path of this storm. 😀

Ah yes, peet bogs. used to run into those in a couple of area's that I tore around in as a kid. A high of 7° is forecast for today, we were at - 6° last night. Big Rapids, Mi. hit -25°. They are in a low area if I recall correctly. That'll keep the Ferris State students in the study hall. Jim, thanks for the mammaries.

The town I grew up in was originally a big swamp. I don't know if they drained some of it or just found firm spots to build on, but there was a huge field called Central Park that had nothing on it, no buildings, no play equipment, just this huge field. My dad said it was a peet bog. Not a swampy thing, but every few years it would catch on fire underground, and smoke would just rise from the grass. Once in a while the fire department would be out there, but not really doing anything. Odd.

I just got in from blowing off the front porch, driveway, back deck and stairs with my leaf blower. I thought that with the snow so dry and light it would work well. A major miscalculation on my part! I guess what I didn't realize was that in some areas it was already as deep as it was, and I had gotten into much more than I bargained for. I don't think it was worth the effort and probably won't be trying that again. Blower did work well on the deck and steps down to the back though. I'm whooped and my hand is aching from holding that damn blower!

From Russia with Love is my favorite, I believe. The girl is good, Shaw plays a great villian as does the ugly woman. Spectre is in there, it's believable, and there's some good fights. Kerim Bey was played by Pedro Armendariz who was dying from cancer at the time and still did a great role.

Chris, the cinnamon rolls look damn fine. Norm, He hasn't caught it yet. Challah bread french toast, with blueberries, cinnamon, and reddi whip. A couple of sausage patties on the side. Just watched From Russia With Love, a few weeks ago.

That's what I thought, but rather than confirm, Norm would rather insult me. LoL Just kidding Norm. Thanks Dan, Dawn's Cinnamon Rolls are outstanding, I had one for dessert. She's a great cook and an even better baker!

Settling in now to watch the Red Wings vs Jets, and later the Oilers vs the Panthers. It'll be interesting to see how much snow I wake up to in the morning. It's snowing hard right now. I have a real feeling I'm going to be very thankful for the snowblower tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great evening! 😃

Norm - As I mentioned I'm watching the Red Wings game. Apparently Kane is now within sight of another major milestone achievement. He is now within 2-Pts of tying Mike Modano's record for most Pts all time for an American born player!

Yeah it's at the new place. I need the snowblower attachment.

The casserole is egg noodles, sauteed chopped onion, pepper, celery, sauteed mushrooms, chunks of cheddar cheese, some form of chicken or turkey, a can of cream of mushroom, and of milk, and of chicken broth. Some breadcrumbs.

I used a food processor on the chicken and it was shredded too finely. Still ate ok.

Yes, the snowblower attachment would be ideal, and probably worth the extra cost considering it would probably last as long as the tractor as long as you don't hit anything with it.

Your casserole sounds great with a nice selection of vegetables mixed in! 👍
