Mike - I'm w/ you on radiant floor heat - I think it's the best. One of my million Wisconsin cousins between Oshkosh, WI & Ripon, WI has a significantly large open floor space home w/ big vaulted ceilings. The entire home is radiant flooring. They have a large wood burning boiler. They have around 10 - 20 acres so plenty of timber to feed the boiler.

John - That sucks about the hard date(s). Are they only game in town? Shop around, if you can. Those places should place you on their rolling truck schedule w/ no need for you to be there.

Good morning everyone.

Short burst out of the gate this morning then nothing. After two days of hitting it hard I hope we don't fall flat today.

Norm I could do radiant heating in the downstairs at my house because the unfinished basement has open ceilings. The upstairs not so much. Same at Mom's house. But Mom's house doesn't have an upstairs. The basement is supposed to be living space, it's got a concrete floor. I suppose I could run tubes along the floor and then pour concrete over them. When I redo my bathrooms they are getting electric floor heat that installs under the tile.

So John your propane place is run by the cable company?

Got my tree branches unloaded yesterday and ran around and redid all the car covers. Got more tree branches to bring over. I really need a pickup. Today I think I'll work in the back yard at Mom's. I'll cut down a couple small, errant trees and open up the view a little more. That should make Mom happy.

Gonna go for a walk. It will be a few minutes before I get another wheel so I'll run down to the ATM real quick. Hope everyone has a good Hump Day.

Chilly (34°) and wet (rain forecast all day) here. We had our annual eye appointments yesterday, no issues. No big plans for today. Boring!!!!

Weather turned ugly this afternoon as this front is passing through, wind putting a chill down my back. Sold an Indian Motorcycle helmet this evening, guy says he'll be back this weekend to buy more stuff. I re-listed the Indian Motorcycle on CL this evening. Tee time Friday 12:00 noon.

John, one truck at this point. Good question, though. I've recently been considering options. Been thinking of picking up a used vehicle such as a Toyota something. Replacing this same truck has a sticker North of $84K - not going to happen.

Good morning everyone.

Slow going this morning. Don't know what the hold up is but I have a few things to look up so I won't be bored.

I had ordered a harmonic balancer for the diesel Suburban and it arrived yesterday, so I went down to my neighbor the hot rodder to tell him I had it. He was going to help me put it on. I did not expect him to grab a tow strap and say lets drag it down here. I figure I better because I never know when he's going to have time for me in amongst his other big projects. We drug it down to his house and started looking around. The part that's bad on the front of the engine is the three-groove pulley, not the balancer. That's an expensive piece, and only available from some place in Houston that carves it out of billet aluminum. Also, the no power to the whole car problem, which I thought was a bad fusible link, was actually the ring on the end of the positive battery cable burned off the stud and detached. He said it was probably loose and when I cranked the hell out of it the last time it arced and burned the end right off. So a new battery cable is on the way. There were a whole lot of 6.2's built over many years, but everything I've read about them point to them not being a terrific engine. Temperamental and not aging well. I'd probably do well to have a big block built up and ready to go in at the next failure.

Gotta take Mom to the doctor this afternoon. I had no idea she had an appointment today, and last night at dinner I said, I'm going to work in the yard tomorrow after work. She said no you're not you're taking me to the doctor. I was a little miffed. I don't mind taking her but springing it on me at the last minute isn't cool. She said she told me. Nope.

Good luck with the bike Norm. I hate selling things.

Think I'll go get a snack. My little sausage biscuit this morning didn't go far. You know what I miss, Shoney's.

Okay have a good day everyone. One more after this one.

Mike, they made a bunch of those 6.2 Diesels. Why can't you get another pulley at a boneyard? Why does it have to be billet aluminum? Seems odd, unless those were known for going bad and none are left? Check with a salvage yard- now a days they can get parts from other yards and have it sent to you if they don't have it.

Greg the pulley is an assembled piece with rubber in the middle. The rubber gets old and delaminates and the outer and inner rings can move independently of each other, making it clang around and sounds like a rod knock. These pulleys are no longer available from the General and used ones are suspect, and this place Leroy Diesel is the only place I've found that has them. Summit Racing told me about them. Turns out the balancer is fine, so I'll get my 100 bucks back out of it. They will probably deduct the shipping.

Good morning guys,

Mike - Good luck getting the Suburban back on the road. 🤞

Looks like a typical Winter day here, high in the high 30's and overcast, at least the rain is gone until Saturday. No big plans for today. Dawn sold a China cabinet that she finished quite awhile ago and the purchaser is coming to get it tomorrow afternoon. Gabe has games Saturday evening and Sunday morning. I'm going to try and go to both. Of course the Super Bowl is Sunday evening. Hoping my Chiefs can make NFL history and pull off the 3-peat, should be a good game. That's about it for around here.

Hope everyone has a great day!

The Packers would disagree with you as they won the first two Super Bowls and the preceding pre-merger NFL championship game. Note that I do not have a dog in the fight and am mentioning it so that you may expect that reasoning from Packers fans.

Understood. I stand by my statement, NO NFL team has won 3 consecutive Super Bowls to date. The Chiefs would be the first to do so with a win Sunday.

I never cared for Taylor's music, or her persona, but I have to admit she was looking pretty good at the Grammy's. In Chief's Red, of course!

Norm - I just looked up what has been going on with the frequency and magnitude of quakes near Santorini Island. That's just crazy scary!

Those islands are a truly complex area w/ folding(s), strike-slip zones, uplifting, shifting, thrust faults & volcanoes. The most highly active in Europe & a geological nightmare. If the island doesn't fall into the sea, one day your neighbor's house may be 50' above where it used to be.

Yep, the convergence/collision of the African and European plates in that area makes for a wild time!

"The First Lady of the NFL", Virginia Halas McCaskey passed at the ripe old age of 102. She had to be the last representative of the birth of the NFL. As a child in 1925 she went on the barnstorming tour advertising her father George Halas' signing of Red Grange.

Interesting side-bar. I read the complete & unabridged version of (HMS) The Voyage of The Beagle (Charles Darwin) way back when as a fun book to read - it was an eye-opening awakening experience. This was "the" trip which culminated in Darwin's postulation of the Origin Of The Species. Back to the side-bar, while his team was in Chile, they experienced a remarkable orogenesis (mountain building) event. The Westward side of the Andes Mountains had uplifted ~20' - 50' in one night!

Good morning everyone.

Slow going this morning. I didn't get my first wheel until almost 8. The lead tries to make it sound like it's our fault when we don't reach our number. Hey, we can't sign wheels if we don't get wheels.

Mountains growing 50 feet in a night? That's something you could watch.

Meeting for the airport tomorrow. I'd be better off going to the Awful house. Some guy bought the surrounding property last year and all the treasurer woman does is kiss his ***. She thinks he's gonna do things for the airport. I think he's gonna try to run us out so he can build warehouses.

Well good luck to the Chiefs this weekend. I don't even know who they're playing, I could look it up. Eh, not that interested.

Okay have a great Friday everyone!

Mike - Yeah, can you imagine? Now, this was sometime ~200 yrs ago, but a flinch of the eye in geologic time. It remains one of the most highly active subduction zones, what an event to remember.

Chris - Should be delightful.

To quote Herman's Hermits, "2nd Verse, same as the 1st". Chilly (30° right now) and overcast, with a high in the low 40's this afternoon. More rain in the forecast for most of the day tomorrow, but at least no ice or snow forecasted that I've seen.

I remember those guys. Couldn't decide if I ever really enjoyed them w/ The Beatles & so many other groups at the time. They were young and had what I thought were some silly songs; but I did enjoy the title of one of their songs I'm into Something Good.

Yes, I think most people in the U.S. remember them as sort of a fringe/niche part of the British Invasion. However, in reading their Bio, I certainly was not giving them enough credit for their success, with them having 11 Top 10 hits in a span of 3-years in the mid-60's, even outselling the the Beatles worldwide in 1965.

I preferred the Bobby Fuller Four.
