I've since removed the polarizer from my camera to stop the vignetting. Why, when I grabbed my camera did I think that I had to put ot on? Must be age related. Jim, nice grass cutting outfit, ya need to smile more. Greg, I saw your car there but not you. The show was a little smaller this year, as they had 500+ cars in the years prior to the covid shutdown. I still enjoy it, but I was by myself as my buddy and his son did not go. He is waiting untill his grandkids (both 3 years old) can get vaccinated. Always better to have a car buddy with you, to check stuff out and compare mental notes. One of my favorites was the tin woody, a cool looking car, along with the '58 Fiesta. The '67 442 with safron yellow paint & the red interior is a bright color combo. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Ue45Q24LeqQeDd2U9
Polarizers were great on high contrast grain with high saturation, small grain, slow speed film. Adjustable ones were even better. I think we are spoiled for choice in the digital age, and things become like an equalizer on an already good stereo; too easy to use all the time when not always needed.
I splurged. I am so fed up with my Huskie weed trimmer (although it is like 15 years old) I decided to go electric. Fifteen years ago the Huskie weed trimmer was ~$300 ($20/year), a comparable model today is ~$350. I guess I got my money's worth.
Check out how the line feed is automatic on the video - very cool. I hope this thing lasts and operates well. It's received thousands of great reviews. We'll see.
Interesting. I love how much work goes into the canned music on those ads. It's gotta have some rock for the white guys, but some soul for the brothers.
Koda, I think that you are right on that, I got used to always having it on the camera, but it's not always neccesary. It's nice when you're trying to get vibrant colors from the sky, but it can be a pain as the lens hood gets in the way of adjusting it. When outdoors, remembering to take the hood off just to give it a small twist almost makes it more of an inconvinience. Norm, Ego has some of the highest rated cordless yard tools. I have been thinking of replacing my B&D electric weed trimmer, just because I get tired of dealing with 100' of electrical cord.
Norm I had to run home for a funeral and next weekend Donny is staying at the lake with his family.
Oddly enough, he just called and asked if I had any extra 442 rear ends. ( his doesn't sound good). So plan de jour is for me to meet him at the lake, haul back which ever rear end he needs/ wants ( i have a few, ) and he can help me me install the canvas tops.
Jim - Is the the canvas fabric double stitched? Can you tell what the stitches are mode of - nylon, cotton? Curious if they applied a sealer to the seams and/or over the stitching?
Double stitched canvas OD. The label says install and wet and it will shrink like a SOB. Then tighten up the foot man loops and it should be so tight a cat can't scratch it. The jeep trailer canvas cover just has ropes to tie over the J shaped brackets
Not sure of the thread material but doesn't seem to have anything on it/
Pic [below[ is the trailer cover seam. Looks like quality work to me. The top, is still folded up. Stay tuned
Looks like nice stuff Jamesbo. I wanted to get a canvas top for the Deuce but no one had one, I had to get a vinyl one. Eh, it beats what was on there.
Got out of work by 8 this morning. We had -just- enough people to get everything done. I signed 30 of the 50 wheels because the other guys went to pick up some slack somewhere else. Got to the Awful house and also the airport. No one was at the airport, I really didn't expect anyone.
I wish I had my old electric Black and Decker trimmer again. I have a lot of B&D electric stuff, most is older than I am. My Dad worked for them. I bought a battery trimmer a few years ago and after using it a very few times the frickin' thing broke in half. Literally. I liked it otherwise and thought it might be a fluke, so I bought another one. It did the same thing. I suppose I could rig it together but I'm sure the batteries are bad by now.
How nice it is to not worry about work in the morning. I can go to Awful house every day this week. My sister will be here, no telling what she will want to do. Pay for me to do things which will make my head explode.
Well Happy Father's Day everyone. Tiger didn't get me anything. It's enough that he breathes. I'm good.
Good evening guys,
Great day for a Car Show today. The show was very well attended with a ton or really nice cars. It still got up to 90°, but there was a breeze and the humidity was low, pleasant in the shade. Got a bunch of pics for ya'll. It will take 2 postings to show them all.
John and Norm - Thanks for the compliments on the pics, you're welcome! Norm, no large work vehicles this year, I was surprised because last year they had a couple of really cool Wreckers there. I am still hoping that Fire Truck shows up again sometime this summer at the huge cruise-in at the Church. That cruise-in was canceled in June because the Church had a conflict. The next one there won't be until the 1st Friday in July, which I believe is the 1st. I am probably going to skip that one, because right now I am planning to enter my car in back-to-back shows on the 2nd and 3rd.
Jim - I can't wait to see the Jeep and trailer with their new trappings!

I bought Milwaukee in spring of '21, the combo pack that had the trimmer, blower, charger, and an 8.0m battery for $400. I love them. I have even started taking the blower and battery with me to the cottage, for quick deck cleanoffs from the mess that the maples and oak like to deposit everywhere during seed season. No more messing around with finicky 2 strokes, when all you want to do is just get the damn yardwork done. I think you'll be more than happy with EGO, as they seem to be the big name in electric yard equipment, with both push and riding mowers available.
Glenn and Jim - Thanks for the compliments on the pics, much appreciated and glad you enjoyed them! It was a very fun way to enjoy Father's Day, especially when I had already had a wonderful celebration with my girls.

Jeff - Thanks for the response. I'm happy to hear these electric line trimmers work well. I'm not sure what is an 8.0m battery. I know the battery which comes w/ this EGO is 2.5Ah.

I'm not sure, either, because I meant 8.0Ah. I'm not sure if that was a fat finger or incorrect autocorrect.
Short funny story. I was driving around the lake with my son, and someone had set a gas trimmer out to the street for garbage. I took my foot off the gas, eyes got big... then I started laughing. "NOPE! Don't need that hassle, I have too many other things to fix right now. Just keep driving, Jeff!" My son thought it was funny, because he knew that took a lot for me to keep driving by a free engine and not grab it. The last two I picked up and fixed were given to friends. I want to keep my garages clear of clutter, so I can focus on my big projects without the distractions.

An 8.0Ah is a darn nice big battery - sweet. In several reviews I read from others a moderately sized lawn trimming moderately sized grass should provide ~45' - 50'. I have a fair amount of trimming & it will be touch & go but honestly, I've learned to live with it and finish the next day. Yes, I have learned not to pick up free stuff - I'd prefer to watch the grass grow.

Milwaukee offers a couple of different battery sizes with the bundle that I bought. Easy math quickly showed that you get a big discount buying the bundle. I've never run out of battery power doing the trimming, but I specifically wanted the bigger size because I also have the Milwaukee shop vac. I read up on which battery size was required ahead of time, and the shop vac literally sucks the battery juice faster. I didn't want to be mid-way thru cleaning the cars or truck and run out, then have to wait while it recharges.
My cousin's kid. "Id like a vodka and tonic, I bet you don't have any limes" Me, "Did rose Kennedy won a black dress?"
"Who's Rose Kennedy?"
Today I worked over a few store clerks. "May I help you? " Yes, I'd like a box of paraffin "
Deer in the head lights look
"How do you spell that?" while checking his phone
"Wax Like you use on windows to make them slide"
"How about canning wax?'
Have you ever seen the Movie "when Harry Met Sally"
Gave up at Publix and went to a hardware store and found a guy who could drive a stick
Mission Accomplished
OReillys kid did NOT want to sell me something that didn't fit my vehicle. He's like "no promises," and I told him I really only wanted the mounting hardware. Those car part store kids, "YEAR MAKE AND MODEL!!!" "I need vacuum hose 5/16ths." "YEAR MAKE AND MODEL!!!"
Busy day running around. Got about half of what I wanted done. Dogmobile failed its emission test. The guy said, after you replaced the O2 sensor you didn't drive enough. I said, so it isn't a matter of the engine polluting, it's a matter of some electrical signal inside a box. If they want to know what's coming out of the tailpipe, they need to go to, the tailpipe. So I guess I'll drive around for 50 miles or so then go back for a retest. I got a 30 day extension so no big deal. I should be able to drive 50 miles in 30 days.
Half of what I say at work is met with the deer in the headlights look. Bring up an old TV show or band, no one has any idea. Sometimes it's funny.
Tomorrow starts another trip around the sun. Doesn't seem like such a big deal this year. My sister came in and we are going to do house stuff at Mom's.
No Flex for me today. I went to the credit union and they were closed. Seems it's some sort of holiday. Rather annoying. I'll get it tomorrow. I think I've been trying two weeks to get this thing.
Hope the week started out good for everyone. It started out great for me. No work and Awful house. Good night everyone.
John, it appears when you get an extra, (Texas) holiday, you loose another one. A city firefighter told me that yes they got Juneteenth, but lost Good Friday. No comment
Well, my bet is that if you have a new canvas top for the Jeep and trailer, you need to wax it for water proofing, like we had to do with our old canvas Army Surplus tents we used in Boy Scouts. Also guessing you need the cleaning rod to pull the tie down cord through the grommets and pull it tight before tieing it off.
Ok, All you smart guys, WTF is Jim going to do with Gulf Wax and a Hoppe's 22 caliber cleaning rod?
The Gulf (Paraffin) Wax is used as a sealant - it &/or Bees Wax has been used for hundreds of years for sealing canvas sailing sheets, clothing & what not, I believe.
I suspect you're going to create some rope eyelets, splices or what not (knot?) using the .22 cal cleaning rod as a fid. Are you going to create any back splices for the ends? I'm pretty sure those metal crimps on the ends (on the hemp rope they provided) were not used historically (if you plan to address realistic rope ends, back splices & eyelets).
In the remote chance we're talking about the same thing, here is my fid. I can't recall where I got it - I've had it forever. I may not have even purchased it - it was so many years ago. It's nearly the exact diameter of a .22 cal cleaning rod.
