I shallowed out my golf swing - apparently it's helped.

Hole Captain for Hole 6 of the USGA U.S. Women's Open Championship tested positive for COVID this morning - I am now daily Hole Captain for the tournament.

9-Hole shoot-out @ 5:00pm

Apparently there was a bear running around about three miles from me, near a business intersection. No woods nearby, so I'm not sure where he came from. probably a young boar looking for his own territory after being pushed out by a dominant male.

We have an occasional valid bear sighting, and very rarely a mountain lion sighting around me. Many more valid sightings of both only 60-miles south of me where there are tens of thousands of acres of unoccupied woods, and very few people to bother them. I've had encounters with both in Colorado, but to the best of my knowledge, I only saw them, they never saw me.

Good evening guys,

Wife made something we hadn't had in awhile for dinner. She made Jambalaya with Andouille sausage. It wasn't a big production, Zatarin's Jambalaya box dinner, plus fresh chopped onions and jalapeños, plus the Johnsonville Smoked Andouille Sausage. Took her all of about 20-minutes is all, but was mighty tasty. Now, bring on the TUMs!

Well I don't know if it's my stupid computer or the $hitty cell phone service I have at my house, but most evenings I can't get my computer to come online. The little icon at the bottom says I'm connected, the phone says I'm connected, but nothing connects and the screen says I'm not connected. When it's minutes before bedtime I'm not about to spend a lot of effort trying to figure it out.

I know how to cure these shootings, but if I say it Jamesbo will get mad, and people who don't even weigh in here will get their panties in a bunch.

Norm good luck being the Hole Captain. Such an honor. Do you get a hat that says that?

All that worrying about coyotes and I have yet to see one, and I haven't heard them in quite awhile. Someone will mention a bobcat once in a while but never a bear. Which surprises me because most of the town is a circus.

Time to get to work. We didn't finish yesterday, were 8 short at quitting time. A few people stayed. The lead is gone for the weekend so who knows what stupidity will abound. Happy Thursday everyone.

Thanks Jamesbo, I appreciate that. I'm no hero. Just a regular guy. You can come get those DUKWs. I'm not going to do anything with them. You know, I could actually sell them now, I was always worried they'd get cut up and turned into tour boats, but that seems to be not a thing anymore. I forgot what caused the demise of the duck boat industry. I hate when people say duck boat.

My wall guy isn't here today. So I got a rookie that can't sign anything off. Two of the three leads aren't here. If we get anywhere close to the number today I'll be surprised.

Mike, I'm fairly certain a" tour boat" capsized and killed alot of tourist. The awnings and extra seats made them top heavy in rough seas End of DUKW tourboats

Jim - That was a big deal here in Missouri since it happened on Table Rock Lake near Branson. As usual with many boating accidents, there were multiple stupid factors that contributed to the deaths of all those people, the biggest being if they had just paid attention to the forecast they should never have been out there in the 1st place. I believe the Wisconsin Dells DUKW tours are still in operation, but I don't think they get out in any "big water", but I can't say that for sure.

I guess that was the last accident with a DUKW. I had forgotten about it. I was thinking about the one where a DUKW stalled in the water and got run over by a barge. I read the DUKW in Branson could have been saved if the captain would have gone into a cove that was nearby, but the dispatcher/owner/someone on the radio insisted he come back to shore. I don't want to get started on a big discussion on this I could go on for days about these types of accidents and how most of the blame does not belong to the vehicle.

Work seems to be moving along. Right at half of "my number" now and it's not even close to lunch. I hope it continues. Shenanigans early seem to have tapered off. That's not to say they won't resurface. The guy the lead has left in charge(lowest time mechanic, but part of the clown group) is the instigator.

Greg that truck is going to be awesome. I just painted a 53 Chevy pickup plastic model that color. Almost looks like British Racing Green. Love it.

Okay more wheels.

Good morning guys,

I said this in my post a couple days ago when reminiscing about my retirement, but Wow, where in the hell does the time go!!! My youngest daughter Blaire will be 29 on Friday, and Maggie is 4 today. I just can't believe that amount of time has passed in either case! I may have mentioned this previously, but Blaire and her family are in the process of selling their home and are moving back to my area, only 5-minutes away from me which will be really nice.

Right now I'm planning on going to a car show on Saturday in the little town of Mascoutah, Illinois, which is about 55-miles E/NE of me. About 60-miles is my self-imposed limit (not strictly adhered to) for going to a show. This one's at a Sportsman's Club outside of town. The weather is supposed to be full sunshine and a high of only 78°, which would be wonderful.

No big plans for today. After rain on and off (sometimes severe) all day yesterday, we started with bright sunny skies this morning, and 10-minutes ago it got really dark, the wind picked up, and the rain's coming down in buckets as I type. Rest of the day is supposed to be the same as yesterday, on and off all day. It has been a really, really wet Spring here.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Jim - Monday's 76 were Calaway (part of the goodie bag I received [a single sleeve of three] during the military charity golf tournament last Friday). I like the Carpe Diem much better and thought I'd go ahead and use up the Calaways. Yesterday's 77 were Carpe Diem. I love those golf ***** to be completely honest. Additionally, I shot a front nine 38 during the 9-hole shootout last night w/ the Carpe Diem.

No. Our team seemed doomed from the start w/ a husband/wife couple who only two weeks earlier had established a handicap which they definitely were incapable of playing to. Appears we were the designated sacrificial losers this week.

Mike, I agree with you. These "tourist type accidents" are most often caused by one thing GREED They have so many days to make so many dollars and say "Go" when they shouldn't. I rode a helicopter up to the top of a glacier in Alaska with zero visibility DUMB

Chris, the Jambalaya looks good, but gotta hold the jalepeno's for me. Your wife's skills continue to impress. A coyote took down a deer in a guys yard last night, about two miles from me, in an older suburban neighborhood. Weird as we had no deer, coyote's nor bear around here when I was growning up. Construction and development pushing the deer and bear around, with the coyote following the food.

Dan - Thanks on both the food and the furniture, I'll let the wife know. In regard to the coyote and the dead deer, more likely a pack of coyotes, they typically hunt in packs when hunting larger prey lake whitetail deer. A single coyote would have a tough time bringing down an adult deer, especially an adult buck. One of the most fascinating things I ever saw in the wild was watching an adult cow Elk fend off 4 coyotes from her 2 babies for over an hour. The coyotes eventually gave up after momma Elk bludgeoned them multiple times with her hooves. Of course an adult cow Elk can weigh 600-700 lbs.

Good Morning Friday!

I didn't even attempt to turn the computer on last night. Mom wanted to go to Publix, then after that we went to Awful house and then to Best Buy to get a dishwasher. Eight hundred bucks later we got home, and then Tiger and I went right to bed.

Jamesbo that's nice. I thought that was Housman.

Dan that's exactly what's happening around me. All the construction going on is pushing the wildlife out. Actually I haven't heard any coyotes in quite awhile, but the deer are plentiful. I actually don't think the coyotes are too close to the neighborhood, too many stray cats around.

All signs point towards staying until 2 today. Shameful. The lead is not here, and most everyone is slacking. My friends in Alabama said I could arrive late, which is good because if I don't get out of work until 2 I probably won't get on the road before 5. And then there is horrendous traffic around Atlanta and through Douglasville. My head will explode. I hate to be beholding to anyone, but I might suggest to the "acting lead" that I leave at lunch, like his buddies did yesterday.

Okay got some internet surfing to do. My wall guy builds one wheel then disappears for 20 minutes. Thankfully today is his last day. Let some other shop worry about him.

Mike, I was going to weigh in and give me 2 cents on your dishwasher, since I had to buy one within the past 2 years. Hope you went Bosch, they seem to have the best quality ratings across all of their models. I've been very happy with mine, can barely hear it running. Open floor plan from kitchen to living room meant that we could never run the old Whirlpool while we were awake, cuz that sucker was LOUD.

Neighbor snapped a picture of a coyote wandering our sub around noon the other day. I've heard them during the night years ago, and usually see one dead on the freeway once per year nearby, but it's odd to think of seeing one during the day in a populated sub. Guess it was hungry.

Greg, I think if they gave away awards for slowest person to do a task, I'd be a front-runner. I took my power steering pump out over a month ago, and it's still sitting upside-down in my oil tub instead of having been shipped out for a rebuild. I need to get my act together, otherwise that car will never leave my ownership.

I see them all the time around here, even durng the day - and I'm near the middle of a densely populated area. Mostly see a solo, but one time I opened the door to walk the dogs and 5 were in the middle of the road going around the corner. Another evening coming home from the auto parts store there were around 15 in an intersection.

Yeah, I know they aren't nocturnal, it's just odd to see them in Michigan as their population has rebounded. We're approaching that point where it will be like seeing wild turkeys here, too. 20 years ago, turkey sightings were few and far between. Now, it's no big deal. Hell, my wife's friend took a picture of a peacock in her driveway yesterday. Seems that a few escaped a farm in the area.

Big surprise of all surprises, I'm still here. Mentioned to the anointed one that this is my big Friday and I'm headed out of town. Oh, he says, if we had another mechanic you could go but it's just not possible. I said, Al and Bill got to leave yesterday. Oh Al had a family emergency and Bill was sick. I said wow you said that with a straight face. I may be blonde but I'm not dumb(cue Dolly Parton) but he doesn't care if I believe him or not. His buddies got over on the company and I didn't, I'm sure they know about it already.

So when I get home I'm going to get Tiger's food measured out for each day, then take him over to Mom's. Then I'll come home and get ready to go. One time, I got everything ready and put it in the car, and took Tiger to jail on the way out. He assumed he was going with me to wherever I was going. I can't tell you how upset he was when he figured out he was going to jail. I felt so bad. So now if I'm going somewhere without him, I don't get ready until he's taken care of.

A fun weekend of yardwork and cars awaits. It's always a good time with these people. Well, with him, his wife doesn't like me. But I do stuff for her so she tolerates me.

Have a nice extended weekend everyone.
