The *NEW* Good Morning Thread!
Chris,
Looks delicious
Let's hope they caught it in time and can take it out and be done with the 'C" word. My sister in law had some stones that revealed the same thing 6 years ago. She's been fine with one kidney for a while
Well, I think I may have found a K 5 but my correspondence with the seller is taking me into places I've never been. Mike, What does this sound like? Scram or real deal
The seller is selling his [passes away ] father's car. He's over seas on a job drilling for something. He has the car with a "broker" in Philly. He says, They will ship it for free and give me 7 days to inspect before they cash my check
It walks like a duck so I axed him for the Brokers contact info
Whatcha think?

I'll throw in my 2-cents on the K5 deal, run, run away fast and don't look back! Good luck!
SCAM CITY!! Do not correspond with this "person" any further. He probably will try to get a lock on your phone or computer or something and cause you multitudes of harm.
Spent the afternoon moving stuff out of the dog room and to my house. Aside from a couple of motors everything is out of there that's mine. Next up, the spare bedroom.
Chris my opinion is the slipped discs was divine. Perhaps the brother had other ways to find the cancer and somehow missed them and He got tired of waiting, and that was a good way to get his attention. Let me tell you about an old guy I used to work with. He and another guy went on a bike trip for a few days. The old guy was towing a motorcycle trailer with his motorcycle. They got onto a dirt road and the old guy dumped his bike over and got messed up pretty bad. While he was in the hospital they did [I don't know what] and found this huge aneurism in his abdomen that was ready to burst. Long story short he got fixed up from everything and came back to work, and then promptly retired. I said, how ironic, the motorcycle crash that almost killed him ended up saving his life. That wasn't a coincidence. Prayers that the brother comes through -everything- okay.
Man I'm beat. I got a lot done today and am glad I took off. That makes this a short week. Not gonna do overtime in the mornings this week. Hitting the sack in just a few...

I'm sure it's ceramic. Probably the blue light special at Big Bubba's Tile Emporium. It's ugly as hell. Twelve inch tile with 1/4 inch grout lines, pretty standard installation. It's put down well and I'm afraid I could be opening a can of worms if I try to take it up and retile. I thought I could reuse some in the kitchen if I needed to when I replace the sliding glass door but I'm almost thinking just running the hardwood flooring from the dining room through the kitchen so it all matches.
Mike - “If” you elect to remove the tile, the fastest & easiest would be using a chisel gun powered by compressed air. Plan on a substantial amount of work for a rather normal sized kitchen. Then you need to screw down cement hardy board and lay new tile if you’re going to install new tile, then grout. Hardy board is generally 3’x5’ pieces. You “could” get away without removing the current tile but you must still apply cement hardy board to lay tile onto the hardy board for adhesion. What size kitchen?
Ah, gotcha. Well, then it’s not “glass” which is better for an underlayment. Your underlayment can be tile mortar and install new tile directly over the old tile then if you choose to lay new tile. Tile mortar with a polymer additive will provide good adhesion for a new set of tile on top the old tile. You can install also a floating (it really doesn’t float) wood floor as well. The type with the rubberized/plastiicised backing which will adhere to the ceramic tile. They make some specialty rubberized compounds you apply directly over ceramic tile then lay the floating wood floor.
If it’s “real” hardwood flooring it will be a bitch to get hardwood to adhere to the ceramic tile. It can be done, but you’ll have to use a specialty adhesive for wood which I don’t have a good deal of experience with. You want that hardwood flooring to be secure above the ceramic tile - you can’t nail through wood and into then through ceramic tile.
And, Mike don’t worry about height offsets between rooms if one room’s floor is higher/lower where they meet. They sell many very good looking solid wood, plastic & metal thresholds to accommodate offsets (Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc.).
Norm - It is amazing to think a dog that looks like mine descended from wolves. What also amazes me just as much is, that 200-years of breeding to develop the ultimate pit fighting, bull-baiting, or defense dog, ended up being such a loyal, loving, and sweet family pet, and don't get me started on how smart they.
Well, the plot thickens
I heard y'all loud and clear.
This morning, he sends me the name and phone number of the "Broker" in Philly.
A Google search show the dealer with lots of 5 star review
I respect your opinions so much, I am gonna sit tight unless you change your minds

1) Still sounds like a scam;
2) NOTHING is free;
3) You're writing a check before you see ANYTHING; to
4) Someone (person, business, whatever) which you have never done business with whom you "claim" has 5 stars (which were posted by whom - the other scammers in on the deal?); and,
5) If you refuse to purchase the car - they then do what with your check?
a) Tear it up?
b) Are you going to issue a stop payment on the check?
6) Are they then returning for FREE to pick-up the truck?
Lots of wheels spinning on this one. I still say it smells like a scam and if it isn't, there's a ton of work involved in this purchase.
This scam has been going on for some time - you can look up a multitude of scenarios across the country - it's a tried & true scam & to the scammers benefit - it works. If you did find the truck on CL I'd run for your life. Yet, if it wasn't listed on CL, I'd still walkaway.

This is one of the biggest things to watch out for on Craigslist postings: a car that doesn't actually exist. Scammers will copy and paste images from a real posting, then make fake listings in dozens of cities. Be wary of a seller who's hesitant to meet in person, and don't spend money on a car you've never seen. Katherine Hutt, director of communications for the Better Business Bureau, told Business Insider that she's seen identical photos listed on dozens of sites across the country. "Who knows where the original car was?" she said. "The scammer kept using the same photo over and over, with multiple victims."

You know what's funny, years ago when I bought my first DUKW I flew out to Boston to see it and talk with the seller. I forgot the year but it would have been before 2005. I asked him if I could send him a check(it was a bank check) for 2K more than what he wanted, and would he give it back to me so I would have the money to have it shipped to me. He didn't think it was a big deal and that's what we did. Of course the check was good, I got the truck delivered and the rest as they say. Not long afterward that very thing became a huge scam and people were getting screwed left and right because they'd get a check, refund a lesser amount, but the check was bad and they'd be out all of it. Never did I even once think that and apparently the guy didn't either. Maybe because I was standing right in front of him when I asked.
Jim - I'd much prefer to see you pay someone to go look at the car (in person), finalize the purchase on your behalf - e.g. send along a check w/ the person looking at the truck. BTW, if I were to use a auto "broker", I (the buyer) would hire the auto broker to negotiate a purchase. I certainly would not use an auto broker who works for the seller (something to consider).
Well, late to the party again, but yes Jim, that is a well known scam. Spent some time trying to get the mounts for the radiator support installed, I either need to remove the front bumper or get a magnetic 11/16" socket. I'll go with the latter.
My guess would be the 5 star broker has no idea his name is being tossed around by a scammer.
Got home from work and I couldn't keep my eyes open. Had a nice nap and got to Mom's just in time for dinner. I moved a few things after we ate and found some stuff packed away we'd been missing. Tomorrow the [new] roof guy comes after work. Won't get much done.
Beautiful evening out. Gonna be 90 tomorrow, way higher than normal. It's awful early for these temps but I think they will probably go back down for awhile.
Okay have a good evening. Onward Hump Day.

Norm - Thanks. Those shrimp look mighty tasty too, and are those Corn Muffins, I love Corn Muffins with a $hit-ton of butter. The secret ingredient in my Corn Muffins is Sugar, not a bunch, just enough for a slightly sweet taste.

They receive a proper beating of Irish Creamery butter. I make various types of corn bread muffins w/ various compositions of various ingredients. These are dead-on scratch - nothing added. While pounding them w/ butter, I drizzle some pure honey on them.

Sometimes I make Honey Butter and store it in the freezer. I like Honey Butter on many things - waffles (in place of real maple syrup not that high fructose high sugar cane maple syrup B.S.), sometimes on good whole seed 21 grain toast, and corn bread.
There exist several variations of corn bread which I favor. One of my favorites is Jalapeno Corn Bread. At one time a great recipe was contained on the label of creamed sweet corn cans. I think I have it here somewhere in one of my cookbooks, but here's a great recipe (below) for Jalapeno Corn Bread. I substitute buttermilk for milk (buttermilk makes a far better corn bread, IMO) and I substitute real butter for margarine (I never buy margarine).

Norm, Shrimp [as usual;] look GREAT, Makes me want to move closer to the ocean
Chris, No offense but down here you'd be put in prison for putting sugar in Corm bread
IF [BIG IF] you have any cornbread [ or muffins] left over. Crumble them up and put them in the oven for a while to dry them out [ so they will soak of the goodness] Sautee sum onions and celery in a whole stick of butter. Toss in sum chopped chicken thigh meat Cool VERY important to prevent scrambled eggs. Add an egg and chicken stock salt and pepper [Norm stir] Toss into casserole dish and bake until slightly firm
Nanelle's [mother's] chicken dressing
If this isn't good grit's ain't groceries

Jim - I have basically same recipe as Nanelle's chicken dressing. Learned it from Mom's side of the family. Of course, everyone has their preferences for spices, but I also add sage, rosemary, thyme, marjoram & a touch of nutmeg. I'm a sucker for sage dressings.
Finished applying new grout to the inside corners of the walk-in shower.

Norm, It's funny how different families add/subtract stuff from recipes.
In the south there weren't any fresh cranberries so we always put strawberry preserves on our dressing
My grand father didn't care for candied fruit. So our family recipe for fruit cake doesn't have candied fruit in it. Nut/and raison yes

--Chris, good luck to your BIL. That is kinda what happened to me, about kidney cancer. They found a cancerous tumor on my left kidney while checking me to be a indirect kidney donor for my wife. It was the best thing that could have happened, really. Hated to find out the news, but so glad to find it before it had gotten big, etc. They may be able to remove just the tumor, as was done with me, or remove entire kidney. So it was a blessing to accidentally find it. I hope all goes well with kidney issue and his back issue. Yeah , I am sure your wife is a wreck worrying about him and herself. Any more news about her?
--I also love cornbread. Jim, your comment about adding sugar would get you in trouble around there reminded me of the difference in southern and northern cornbreads. My dad was from southern Illinois, his mom made cornbread in a skillet in the oven. It would get a little browned around the edges- sort of s crust not sweet at all, a little crunchy and super good with some butter. My mom was a central Michigan girl and her mom made "Johnny Cake" which was called cornbread also. It was sweet and more like a cake, though you would still cut it and take out of the pan, slice and butter. It was also baked in the oven in a pan. They were both really great in a different way- Oh boy getting hungry now....
--Sold the boat yesterday for $4000. I could have held out for the $4200 as there were lots of people interested but I wanted the old guy to have it. It was perfect for him and his wife. They both were elderly and liked to fish. She had bad legs and couldn't get in a little fishing boat, so that small pontoon was perfect for them. It will continue to do the job of carrying around some geezers as it did . Good deal!
