Big spender with a brand new Deere. Show off!

I have this rule about things I do not buy new: boats, campers, and mowers

Weezer, I priced it six was from Sunday before I pulled the trigger. I had a shot at one [in SC] for a 3rd with 1200 hours. If I knew who looked after it, I would have bought it but I didn't

My number 1 Priority is keeping the cemetery well maintained . I need Good equipment to do that

BTW, I will NEVER BUY A NEW TRUCK I'm at 318,000 miles

I can walk, call Uber or a friend but I can only eat so much grass

Ah home before dark tonight. By a little. Mom didn't have the rodeo on.

Left work after 230 again today. The slackers blamed it on not having tires. I think they will say anything to keep from pointing fingers at themselves. Apparently my wall guy's last day was today. I feel bad for the shop he's going to, they will have a definite downturn in production. We may not notice any difference.

Jamesbo that's a fancy mower. If your old one only needed an oil leak fixed why didn't you just do that? I know, new stuff is cool.

Not sure if I ever told you guys I thought the transmission in the dogmobile is going out. Well today, it started shuddering on startup from a stop light. Not sure if it's actually the trans, because the check engine light is on. But that's for the oxygen sensor. Who knows. I better find that Jeep or similar or we'll be walking. No way Mom can get up into the black truck or the Suburban.

Okay overtime tomorrow but I don't think I'm going in. We're working Saturday and I'll go it for that, also maybe Sunday. I'd do that too. Thought I'd fire up the big truck and take it Saturday. I'll have to leave Thursday afternoon.

Two down.

Mike, this time of year [when the fescue is growing cool/wet days] We cut grass for about 4 hours twice a week. I could have limped along with the old mower but it would be like sitting on a time bomb. I didn't want to get in a time bind with NO mower

Remember the roads are full of flat squirrels that couldn't make up their minds. I took a full day to gather information options/prices/alternatives from REALLY good sources [ Yes like Donny] made up my mind and pulled the trigger on a new one that cost more than my 1st house.

I'm going to take my time fixing the oil leak in the old one and either 1] sell it or 2] keep it as a back up

Again, The number one priority is keeping the cemetery/ surrounding property looking good. That's where the $$$$$$$$$ comes from

I can live with that

Jim, didn't occur to me that this mower would be for the cemetary grounds. Totally different perspective in that circumstance, so new is the way to go. Fix the old one to keep as backup, or to have a 2nd person mowing to shorten the time.

Went to gas station today and just for S&Gs I decided to try the Green Dot card. It worked! Pumped 75 dollars of the precious stuff into the car. So I guess the card works, I'll empty it out and be done with it....

Hump Day!

What a beautiful day out. Sunny and warm, not humid. No rain for the foreseeable future.

Roof inspector came today and texted me he was done and I said I couldn't talk, it was loud in the shop. Texted him when I got home and no response. Eh, I'm sure I wasn't the only inspection he had today. Never did hear back from the roof guy, so they are done. I'm going to call another place as soon as I talk to the inspector.

I really, really need to mow but I have a feeling as soon as I get to Mom's there will be something more pressing to do. Like rummage through boxes for the nth time, just to make sure something didn't get stuck in one that she won't need. The back yard also needs trimming and clearing, because you can no longer see the lake from the back windows. Here is the conversation. Mom: I'd like to see the lake. Mike: I'll go work in the yard. Mom: No, you need to get that room cleared out and the living room rearranged. Mom five minutes later: I wish I could see the lake.

It's official, we're working Saturday and Sunday. I said I'd work both days, then took Monday off. Won't be as long as the weekend, which never seems long, but it will be something. And I'll have made some double time. Can't beat that.

Okay off to Mom's.

Good evening guys,

Today I have, and will continue to, Drive Miss Daisy, a good portion of my day. My wife wanted to spend most of the day with our granddaughters, so we left to go over to my step-daughter's house at 1000 this morning, fifty-miles one way, about an hour's drive. I dropped her off and came home to care for the dogs, mow, and a few other chores, and now I'll be leaving at 6:00pm to go pick her up. We won't get home until after 8:00pm. So, I'm sure many of you have figured out by now, that my wife doesn't drive. It's not that she doesn't know how, or doesn't have a driver's license. She has an epileptic condition that is controlled by medication 99.9% of the time. I don't believe she has had a seizure now in over 3-years, maybe longer the way time flies, and only 4 in the 14-years I've known her. In Missouri, if your epilepsy is controlled by medication, and you haven't had a seizure in at least 6-months, you can obtain a driver's license pending review of a statement from your Doctor which is reviewed by a State Medical Review Board. Both she and I are in 100% agreement that she shouldn't drive unless there's an absolute emergency, so that's why I'm always running her everywhere. PIA, but I knew the situation when we got together, and I'd never forgive myself if she got hurt, or hurt someone else. And that, as Paul Harvey would say, . . . . . "is the rest of the story."

Hope everyone had a great day! Oh, and it's hotter than hell for this neck of the woods, my outdoor thermometer was reading 96° in the shade at 3:00pm. Mowing was brutal!

Chris - Thanks for sharing details regarding driving. Smart decisions by both of you.

Mike - Good luck with the roofer. I know the inspector will get back ASAP - I've been down this road.

You know what's funny, I texted the guy maybe an hour after he texted me, didn't hear back. He called me around 7 this evening. My apologies he said. I got home and took a two hour nap. I thought that was funny. He said the roof was in great shape, the ridge vents are toast, and some of the other vents are damaged as well. He will send a report to my insurance and I'll hear from them in the next day or two.

Got a few things moved at Mom's, and got a table put back together. Then had ham for dinner and apple pie. OOoh I haven't had apple pie in ages! Boy was it good. Too bad I didn't have any chocolate ice cream.

Gonna try to get to bed a little early tonight, even though I'm not going in early. Eating a big meal every night has made me tired in the evenings.

The week is half over. Well, not including Saturday and Sunday. We're usually done by 9 those days anyway.

Good morning guys,

Maggie has a heartworm check at the vet at 1100, and I have an appointment to get my Yamaha safety inspected at 1330. Motorcycles over 10-years old, or having over 100K-miles, are required to pass a safety inspection in Missouri to renew your plates. The Yamaha is 12-years old now, I just made it under the 10-year limit last go round and was able to get 2-year plates. I'll get 2-year plates again, and I'll be able to do that online after the inspection.

Wife found a gorgeous antique dresser that we're going to pick up this evening. Just by stroke of luck, the person she's buying it from lives in our subdivision.

That's my plan in a nutshell for today.. Hope everyone has a great one!

Did a whirlwind trip to the Kentucky plant tues night and came back yesterday evening. Saw the tooling at the vendor Wed AM that I needed, then had them fix stuff. Went to our division headquarters to see people and have lunch. Got the tooling when it was done, then went to the plant to see more people and walk the engine lines to see if the K plant does anything better or different than us. Then I left, drove back through Louisville, stopped at a record store, picked up a bunch of used ZZ Top CDs and some others, and a 30th anniversary reissue of the Sonic Temple album of The Cult. I have an original, but this has a couple extra songs and is on two records, so hopefully cut a little wider. Should sound good.

This family came in with a misbehaving brat of a five year old. Maybe 4. Totally unregulated, running around and screaming. I should have told his parents to whup his *** or I would. The thing that kid needed most in life was a free trip to the next zip code courtesy of my right Redwing.

And a beautiful day it is, yes it is.

Work was good. Got my normal wall guy back. I don't get this guy. He's a clown wanna be. But his "friends" bust his ***** all day long and he gets mad. But he runs over to talk to them whenever he can. And when one of "their" wall guys is gone he moves over to take his place. I kind of think the head clown assigns him to do this. And then when whoever is back, he's back with me because he's pushed out. Weird.

John I'm guessing you have a perfected look you give to people, especially children, that will stop them in their tracks. My Dad had this, never had to say a word. I don't have this look. I go from calm to steam coming out of my ears in about 2 seconds. I'm not patient with dumbasses.

Been looking for cars and can't find anything. I must be losing my touch. Though I'm not usually worried about finding a nice car, I usually look at wrecks. I need to get with it. It's going to be real hot soon and even a trip to Publix will be unbearable without AC.

Okay gotta do something.

Mike - Not so weird. Those who bust your ***** are those who look up to you with some degree of respect, camaraderie &/or friendship.

They are getting up there in price, no matter the condition, same with the older Toyota 4x4's of any model.

We set all-time high temperatures yesterday and today at 94° and 93° respectively. I'd rather have these temps anyday over 50°, overcast, and wet.

Norm ordinarily you'd be right. The senior clowns are in their 40s and the junior clown is 22. Clearly they think he's weak and are exploiting that. And apparently he is because he keeps coming back for more. That's too bad. He's a decent kid that is trying too hard to be one of the cool kids. I think he lives his life trying to fit in with whomever he's around.

No temp records set here today. Beautiful, low 80s no wind no humidity. I should send some to Kenneth.

Jamesbo what happens when there's no more room for dogwoods?

Got some mowing done today before pork chops. It was a Brady dinner because we had pork chops and apple sauce, and Tiger was with us. No one sneezed from his flea powder, though.

Okay off to bed. The weekend is upon us.

Chris - I haven't had white cheddar pasta is ages - I like that stuff. Sounds like a nice meal.

Mike - I love pork chops + apple sauce. You know what else is great w/ apple sauce? Potato pancakes. I like a dollop of sour cream + apple sauce with my spud cakes.

There is a 10 acre field behind me which has overgrown. It was rotated in crops for many years, that stopped nine years ago - it's basically tall pine now. I collect golf ***** on the course when I have time to fish them from the water, etc., etc. I estimate I have ~10,000 golf ***** in that field. Today I added another twenty. Someone recently purchased the acreage. Should be some eye-popping moments when they start clearing that field.

My father's late neighbor did the same into our lake.

I had glorious Taco Bell tonight.

Went by my friend's family's ice cream stand which just opened for the season. Busier than a one balled man in a whorehouse. I'll go later this weekend.

Got my starter in the mail for the 72. Taking it to a rebuilder tomorrow.

Jim - On several occasions - I posted pictures, as well. Delicious. I'll admit that Cajun's Choice sauce is spicy (but delicious).
