Thanks Dan. There's a geezer club? Heck, I coulda joined last year!

Seems like everyone here has decided to get new shingles at the same time. Sounds like a convention of rather loud woodpeckers outside. Time to go for a walk before the heat hits.

Dan, look for Gene and see if you can grab a word with him. I guess it might be a needle in a haystack, but his car sure is easy to spot... gorgeous '59 Super 88 convertible, red with off-white top & 2-tone red-white interior. He had sent it to a shop in Traverse City a couple weeks ago and they really took off a few of the rougher edges. It's never looked better. He'll be with his sitter, Kevin. I'm sure I've posted it before here, but here it is again for kicks & grins.

Happy news.

My keys turned up in the safe of my hotel room in Tenerife. I did mention to my wife that it's her job to empty the safe as she looks after passports and cash etc. Hmm.

Hi everyone.

What a glorious day. Sunny, 80, not humid. And no rain. That's worth the price of admission right there.

London glad you found your keys. I know for a fact I'd fall down twitching if I ever lost mine. Or my wallet. Not because of the money, there's precious little of that.

Jamesbo I remember I remember! It's because it's the same day as an ex-girlfriend. But you're not as fat.

The new badge worked A-OK at work last night, so it was back to business as usual.

Tiger started barking at a squirrel that was in the back yard. So I let him out but of course he didn't get it. I have 22 steps going down from the porch to the yard, I think he hit 4 of them. Then I heard a hawk screeching and I said, you might as well hang it up, the squirrels are long gone.

Time to start getting ready for work. It is Hump Day. My week doesn't really have a hump day, as there's four days. The hump I guess is driving home after the second day. Hm.

Have a good evening everyone.

The Close

It's been a wonderful day. Temps right now are sitting at 84° and there's a warm breeze. Just got back from my second go around at Costco. Monday I bought a pair of Sun Ice summer shorts that made it to my bill, but didn't make it back to the cart...I called them and they said they'd make good, and they did. I took the Missus with me this trip (mistake) but we didn't really overspend. She wanted 'just a few things' that weren't anywhere close to her list. Yup, she makes a list but it gets tossed pretty quick once the main items are filled.

I keep pulling stuff out of my pocket and it's attached to the face of my phone. Monday it was the refill chit for propane that got lost somewhere's in the store. Today at the till, my membership card appeared to have gone AWOL. Fortunately, I looked on the concrete by the till and there it was! I need a velcro pad for that stuff.

One of the fun moments of the Costco adventure was.......
......
......
......
Baby gets a new set of dance shoes. I'd been putting off buying new shoes for the Cutlass for awhile since it hasn't been on the road since 2011. Now that it's going to see sunlight in a few weeks I sprung for a new set of BF Goodrich Radial T/A's 225/70/14. Including the mounting/balancing/tire levy and tax came to a grand total of $552.00 (Canadian). I saw the same tires advertised in the US for $146 (US) and that didn't include anything but the tire. SCORE!!!! The tires are special order so I'll get a call when they come in. I have 4 spare SS wheels to put them on, I just have to bead blast the rims and decide if I want to make them SSII or SSIII. I'm leaning toward SSIII. The 'new' rims are bolt on center caps, and I have 4 NOS caps to put on. I think it will look fantastic! One of the old wheels will go in the trunk as the spare.

London - I'm really glad to hear you will be getting your keys back. When the Mrs and I vacation we always get a room safe, and the last thing before leaving is BOTH of us sweep the rooms and safe to make sure nothing is left behind. Something to think about for the next trip??

John - What a sweet looking 59!

Jim - WTH?? You still have berfdays?? I think I missed it too bud. Sorry about that. I'll be more attentive next year. So this year you turned 32??

The boy will be home shortly and he's going to take me and the Mrs to Mucho Burrito at my request. I don't think anyone who has eaten there has ever gone away hungry.

Good morning

Last day before the forecast calls for rain. Spoda be really nice and sunny. Yesterday we made it up to 86 here and today will be almost the same.

Jouni - Thank you. Yes, I was surprised but happy with that price. Is Th.ere anything like Costco in Finland? (Big box merchandiser)

Clint - I wish I knew a cure for that. Poor little guy probably shivers with fright even if you hold him? Does the blanket help at all? Sounds like a dumb idea, but what about building him a sound insulated cage for when the boomers arrive.

Jim - That fresh cut hay looks pretty long. Bet it smells good right when ya cut it though. Fresh cut hay and freshly turned dirt both smell strangely good IMO.

Heading out to have breakfast with the boys.

Enjoy your day.

'Bout ready fer a cold one, garden re planted [waiting armed for deer/groundhogs/rabbits etc]

Allan, I pretty sure each tomato is gonna cost be 50 bucks before it's all said and done but my garden is the oldest one around [over 100 years old] and it's kinda a habit every spring

Clint, I was a real estate property manager for 40 years, I've got keys to things I have no idea where/when the used to fit

Hay cut needs to be fluffed then baled

I'm now decided against and new [old] off set tractor and am searching for a box of plow points I have safely stored some where. I'm gonna go back to cultivating the way I used to and remove the center foot on a spring plow, change the plow feet to cultivating feet and pull it behind the Massey Ferguson

Maybe that will keep my veggie cost down below a $100 / bushel

Have a GREAT day Olds friends

Evening all

Today was busy, which is nice because moss don't gather on a rolling stone. One of the things I did was have 2 of my old SS wheels rubber peeled. Those (snow) tires were 37 years old but hardly looked a day over 3 years. I had no plans to drive the Cutlass in anything but nice weather anyway so they're off to the rubber graveyard. When the tire shop returned the SS wheels to me I was a bit surprised to see one of them still has the original GM sticker with part number on it on the inside of the rim! Cool beans. Now all I have to do is pull the sand blaster out of the corner and hook it up to the compressor. I foresee a lot of noise and dust in the garage shortly.

I have the SSIII clip on models on the car right now and I'm not sure whether to keep the new ones as SSII or SSIII. I like the look of both. Weigh in with your thoughts. For London, Jouni and those who don't know what my car looks like, here it is.

Jim - I hope your new garden doesn't meet the same fate as the old one. It sounds like you put a lot of effort into your planting and cultivating. It might seem like a curse to you but I'd love to have that kind of space to play with. Wishing you all the best luck warding off de varmints and keeping the cost/bushel down.

Hi everyone.

Night three is upon us. Tonight we are having "Safety BBQ." Not sure what that means exactly, maybe we have to wear our reflective vests while we eat. I'm certain we will have to sit through some dull talk by the director as our punishment for getting free food.

Beautiful out. I keep saying I'm gonna mow in the afternoons but I don't. I think though that I will do all of the mowing and trimming Saturday when I wake up. As crappy as my yard looks it will actually look a little nice when it's all done.

Jamesbo my Dad had a garden when I was growing up. It slowly grew every year until it was about half the yard. Of course it was us kids(read that me) that had to tend to it. Then when the 36 tomato plants exploded my Mom had the bright idea to have my brother and I sell them to the neighbors. I can tell you I was thoroughly embarrassed but Mom didn't care. We probably got a whole 6 bucks from selling produce all summer.

Clint I used to have a ring that looked close to that. It got so it wouldn't fit in my pocket. Now most of the cars have their own ring and I only bring them if I'm in that car. Some keys will stay on my ring forever. And of course they are in order and all the teeth face the same direction.

Okay here we go. Tiger has some new moves to stay out of his room, but so far I've been able to thwart them. He is clever.

Have a good night everyone.

Morning all! Going to be a decent day, sunny and 81! Or so says the weather girl.
Might get some wrenching done in the garage once all of the honey-do's are done.
You guys keep safe across the pond, there!
Heck, for that matter! Ya'll stay safe and have a great Friday!

Good day everyone.

Working week has ended, thankfully. Now its time for lots and lots of yardwork.

Allan R - Nice car. So its been just sitting on garage for years? Yes, there are some companies similiar to Costco, but not as big

Jamesbo - Its good to save money by growing veggies yourself
That goes for many things you dont even realise.. You think your gonna save some big money when you do "this" yourself, but at the end you end up paying more. Been there

Okay, have a good weekend everyone!

Morning.

Just when you think that my country has got itself together they have an election and it all goes belly up. Too many lies and false promises by the lefties. Rant over!

Off to Costco again shortly, to buy another 3000 diapers.

Have a great end of week and a safe weekend.

Another nice one

For those of you [certainly not Clint} Hay 101 day 1 cut, day 2 fluff, day 3 fluff again and hopefully bale

Today is fluff day

London, I'm not sure I have a clue what is going on politically on your side of the pond. Come to think of it, that's also true over here.

I think we're up to a new "investigation" every other day

GTG before I get too political/crazy

Have a great day Olds friends

Mornin all.

Allan, With his hearing as good as it is, I'm not sure I could get something insulated enough. Looks like they want a serious chunk of change for the Zencrate. And we already have music in their little room, and he has his crate (confined space), and we also use a fan in the room that creates a "white" noise for him. So nothing else that I can think that would be much different than what we are doing.

Mike, I thought I was the only one that had to have all the keys facing the same way?

Jamesbo, The hay field looks great. I'm almost afraid to ask what kind of fertilizer you are using?

London, Why so many Diapers?

Think I may get Brit out on Saturday and maybe do a little wash and polish.

Have a weekend.

Friday

The weekend looms. Not much different than weekdays except for all the teepee creepers running around yelling and screaming.

The predicted rainfall never happened so it stays dry. Much cooler and overcast today.

Clint - Not much else you can do short of moving under a mountain.

Jouni - Yes, it's been in the garage since 2011. That's when I started tearing it down and rebuilding systems. It'll be on the road this year.

Jim - You really have your work cut out in that field. My compliments on your energy and drive.

London - I'm with Clint on this. Wutchu need that many diapers for? Something to do with the election?

Ken - Honey do's never end so go do the wrenching and have some fun!

Enjoy your day.

Allan, the wheels will look good as either SSII or SSIII, but for a '72 I think body color is good, as it seemed to be more common by that year. Going to get hot around here starting Sunday, temps around 90, and should last a couple of days. Too warm for this old fart.

Actually, you are the FIRST to ask what the hell is Chicago, Finland.

The real name of the city is "Lahti". It got its nickname "Chicago" at 60's during big moving-wave there. Because of similiar expansion rates, and mostly because of high rates of criminality towars others life.

Hi goodbye everyone.

Sat here at the computer and closed my eyes for a minute, 30 minutes later it's time to leave.

Nice day here, hope it continues. Tiger and I had some mail to take to the post office so that meant stopping off at the Awful house for a hamburger. A nice Friday treat.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. It's Friday for me, I was a week ahead of myself. I thought I was on vacation next week, nope, got one more week.

Okay have a good night everyone.

Ah there you are Jouni! About 100 km from Helsinki. I guess its the same as a lot of North American Cities (America and Canada) that get 'nicknames' from their historic or emblematic pasts. I did a google street view drive through some of the city and it looks like it's fairly high density housing! Roads look so pretty with all those giant Elms? or Russian Olive? trees. I looked at the weather for your area and it looks like we're both in the same boat right now. Rain, rain, rain. Your seasonal average temps are about what ours typically are. For some reason, this year has been strange with weather patterns all over the map. You're 9 hours ahead of AB, Canada time so that's 11 hours ahead of Jim and the others on the east coast. LOL, that means Santa can get you presents ahead of us!

Yea, i was living 2017 already when you were stuck to 2016
There are birches, spruces and pines. Thats pretty much our trees. Maybe some elms here and there. And alot of apple trees. Even we have 8 of those. They are beautiful at summer, maybe you saw those?

I live 5km's from city central, on a street which has only detached houses, and have almost twice the size of yard than any others ( 3500m2, in one way its small yard, but considering we live so near big citys central, its actually huge when put in to correct perspective). Remnant of the past. Really quiet street, and side enough from main streets/ shops, that people dont wander here.
Really nice place to live, having your own peace, and still all the shops you can imagine are max. 10km's from you. If something negative, my commute is 87km's one way, so over 170km per day just to get to, and back from work.

Wow, long text. Good Morning everyone.
Saturday. Its shining now, warm day coming. Warm sauna coming too!

Yardwork is already waiting me. Duh... Does it ever end?

Have a good saturday everyone!

Morning.

Nice to know a bit more info about everyone here. Inline, I can almost imagine where you are, sounds nice.

Allan and Clint. The reason I get through so many diapers is that I own three nursery schools and look after 320 children everyday. Around a third of them are under 2 so require diapers and as Costco don't deliver that is my weekly total I have to pick up.

Good luck Jouni with the wedding prep, are you having a honeymoon?

Saturday Mawnin to y'all.

Well it appears to be letting up a bit for now. Still some rain forecast but plenty of wind and cloud right now. It's keeping the temp down to 11* (52). One the bright side the grass is getting a nice drink and likely will stay 1972 code 36 for quite a while.

Jouni - That sounds like our lot too. Our shopping is a little closer, but meh. I'm glad I don't have your daily commute. Your fuel bill must be crazy huge. Some of the peeps here with commutes to work park on side streets and are collected by a transport bus that takes them to their worksite. But the downside is they have to be ready at 5:00 am. Probably same time you have to leave to be there on time.

London - That explains a lot. That's quite an enterprise you've got there. It sure won't be an industry that gets downsized as there's always high demand door child care. The trash collector must really love you...

Jim - Couldn't have said it any better You have a way with words. Have fun with the bales, round or brick?

John - How's the SF coming? Run over any Mr No Shoulders cutting the tall grass?

Gonna be a quiet one here today. Enjoy your day.

Thanks for all.

LondonCutlass - No honeymoon, im Super lucky if i get even one week off from work until they seize when winter comes. Most likely not.
At first we were going to spend honeymoon at winter after my work stops, but theres one new variable.. Were getting a baby at dec/jan Thank god were not getting 320 of them
So no honeymoon at short future..

Allan R - 130€/$ a week for fuel. But thats my own decision to work that far away, they pay so much more and have so much more work at capital-area, that it far outpays the fuel-bills. Otherwise i might use publics, but our working-times are so bizarre, and the place where we start and close our work, is at remote location without public transport at any sane time.

Yardwork for today done. Tomorrow more. Now to heat sauna, then bbq, and enjoy beer.

Ps. I got all excited, was it yesterday or day before, when at news they were telling truck full of beer crashed to the ground at US
But then i read it further, and they told it was Bud Light. So no beer, and no need to get excited

Sorry

Jouni - Congratulations to you and your bride to be. Wonder if it will be a Jan 1 baby? Here it's a tradition that the first New Year baby gets a lot of freebies. Yeah, the diaper trip for you should be a lot easier. You might as well get used to less sleep

Hi everyone.

Just got back from the Awful house. Got home late from work this morning so had to sleep. Caught the tail end of day shift so all was not lost.

Jamesbo when I was in school I'd always get good grades on papers I'd write, but always did bad in the class. That's because I'd never do my homework. When I look back and think about all the homework I did, I see that not doing any of it would have had the same effect as doing all of it. Zero.

I see that Batman died. Hate to see that. There's a fellow in Indiana that makes replicas of the Batmobile. If I had an extra buck fifty, I'd surely have one.

Okay got mowing to do. Beautiful out and not too hot. Have a good day everyone.

Allan. I most certainly have a bit of help with all the little ones. I have 109 staff at the moment but I also have 8 vacancies. As for the noise I don't hear it anymore plus my staff are all qualified and good at the job so manage to keep the little ones busy. Also I have been doing this for 26 years.

Don't think I've ever tried Bud light, I will pick some up next time I go shopping, then I can give an opinion.

Mike, I also never did any homework but I got very good grades, but I made sure I never told my kids and I made sure I nagged them all the time about it.

Jouni, prepare for your whole world to be turned upside down, a new baby in the house changes everything, though it feels hard at the time you will remember it as the best time of your life. The best time comes when you get to be a grandpa, my grandson is now two and a half, today we have been potty training as he is staying with me for the weekend.

Sunday, I'm off to the pet shop to find a few more canaries for my aviary.

Good evening folks! It's been a long time.

Summer is finally here and I've been too busy to enjoy it. Finally got around to putting new lowering springs and installing a rear sway bar in the Cutlass a couple of weeks ago with mixed results. Managed to do an oil change last weekend and hope to make it to my first show of the season with it tomorrow.

Work has been crazy but think some big projects are getting close.

Can't wait for things to settle down enough to be able to enjoy car season.

I've been gone so long Allan is back! Welcome back (whenever that was) and glad to see you getting the car out.

Looks like I've got a lot of catching up to do. Also see a few new names in here.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

The Close

Just finished watching 'The Great Escape' and also had a running chat with my sister at the same time. Some shows never get old.

Hi Paul!!
I was wondering about you the other day. TNGMT without it's founder...
Did you manage to solve the overheat problem with the Cutlass? That's where I left off last time, as it's been awhile for me too. I only just recently renewed my visits here.

I need to adjust my sway bar a bit. Not quite centered so I need to re-distribute the shims.
