Quarter window removal
Quarter window removal
Hi there,
Just after some advice on removing the front quarter window of my 1959 98 sceni-coupe. I've got the interior panel off and all the bolts/nuts/screws I can see, however the quarter window cannot be gotten out.
Can an yone suggest where i have left a screw in or how I remove the frame?
Thanks heaps
John.

Quarter window removal
John, I just replaced mine in my '59 98. The window seemed to bind on me as well. After you remove the large pivot bolt, you have to free the window frame from that bulkhead. It's in betwwen two large cast arms, and it's tight. Bear in mind the back end of the window is still in the guide track. The hole you went through to remove the pivot bolt should be large enough to get a hefty screwdriver through, to work on the bottom side of the frame.
Once you get it moved just a bit, from where it's been for 50 years, it should come on out w/o much more trouble. If you have electric windows, DO NOT try to use the motor to move the frame after you remove the pivot bolt! The shop manual warns against this.
Good luck, and post photos!
Jim

Thanks for the help there Jim,
Much appreciated. WHOA, just saw your Olds. Exceptional!
I have my Olds pics buried on my computer somewhere and I'm looking for them in the mean time one of my first posts has pics and I think I put one up of her stripped ready for paint a little while ago.
Many photos to come may use photobucket or such as there will be a few.
