distributor gear
Did some reading about the different gears per application, I just pulled the disc out to have it redone and noticed some wear aleady, motor only has 50mi since rebuilt. I woulda never went bronze if my dis builder mentioned melonized, but composite is better I guess?

As far as I know, melonized is a version of cast iron. My engine builder had one fail and trash an engine. I'll stay away, thanks. It's bad enough that the wear dust from a bronze or composite gear goes through the oil pump.
There also seems to be some debate on whether one is required, depending upon the camshaft manufacturer. Again, $200 for a composite gear is cheap insurance. Mine has very little wear after about 15,000 miles.
The previous gears i was getting were made by Comp and Allstar. Both were advertised as bronze, but experienced massive failures after a couple hundred miles, unlike the previous actual bronze gears that were good for a few thousand (every oil change). I assume that the newer gears are actually brass, judging by their yellow color.

Yes it has a coating on it, I will be going with composite with all the headaches I been thru lol, I think my bronze gear came from jegs, thanx for your input 👍
