Cracked rocker arm, but why?

Hi guys.
Story is. First attempt to first start up after rebuild revealed a leaking fuel pump.
Decks on block and both heads have been ground. All new bearings and a new cam.
What would cause a cracked rocker arm? It was not cracked before first attempt to start it so I guess it cracked during cranking the engine. Second attempt was obviously aborted when I noticed this.
My rocker arm setup on both heads has shims and I am thinking of putting in shims to match the amount that the engine builder removed when grounding.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Søren.

The only thing I can say is look at the valve geometry, coil bind, pushrod length...

It's probably the plug wire that is between the rocker and pushrod. Lol

How much did you take off the heads and block? Are the valves hitting the pistons? Are the springs bottoming out? What was your preload on the rockers?

New cam = new springs? Did you check installed height and coil bind?
Bent pushrods sounds like coil bind to me.

Maybe the pushrods are too long? Did you measure them and replace or reuse the old ones?

I have a pushrod gauge I can mail you real quick if that's needed.
