65 442 wheel size help
so I been pulling my hair out all day with wheel sizes and offsets on foe my 65 442. Currently I have old Anson 14x8s with a 3 1/4" backspace all the way around. I'm putting the Hurst dazzler wheels on it 15x8 with a 4" bs for rear and a 15x7 with a 3 3/4" bs for front . I'd like to run a 255/60/15 in rear and slightly smaller in front . Question is should I do the 8" wide all the way around or the 7" wide in front ? What will fit the best ? Thanks !
You want zero OFFSET. Backspace is a poor metric to use because it depends on wheel width, material, and shape of the lip. Offset is independent of wheel width. For a 7" wide wheel, zero offset will yield a backspace between 3.75" and 4", depending on the thickness of the wheel lip. For an 8" wide wheel, backspace for zero offset will be between 4.25" and 4.5".

Better recheck your math. You would need a NEGATIVE spacer. Smaller B.S. means that the rim is pushed outboard already. A spacer would just make that worse.
So far the rear 15x8 4" bs with a 255/60/15 drag radial seems like it's going to fit. Have about 2"s on the inside and very very close to the wheel well inner lip . But the car does seem like its sitting to low in the back and is way to soft in the rear .
wow that looks great , what springs and shocks are you running in the back ? And what wheels tires are you running up front ?
Fyi
I have had many different wheel & tire combos. On the front the best fit is a 15 x 6" rim with a tall narrow tire like a 215 75 15.
rear springs were new replacement from strange and the shocks are KYB all around.
Best looking rim on a 65 442 is by far Torque Thrust Ds and redlines would be a home run.

Well wheels are on and I'm really happy to report that they fit perfectly. 15x7, 3 3/4" bs with a 235/60/15 front. No rubbing and just clears lock to lock. Rear is 15x8 4" bs with 255/60/15 tires. Fits perfectly a couple inches on the inside and 1/4" between the tire and inner fender lip on the passenger side and a 1/2" in the driver. Going to put air bags in tomorrow to get another inch in height then will post some pictures.
