1955 power front seat
1955 power front seat
I’m restoring my ‘55 Super 88. I removed the front bench seat to install new carpet and the power function no longer works. The seat is in my garage and I hooked it up directly to a power source and the motor only hums. If I am unable to get the motor rebuilt, is there a way to convert the seat to manual adjustment using the current seat tracks or will I need to find a set of manual tracks? If someone has a set of manual tracks for sale, let me know as I might need them.
If it worked before I would suspect something like a bad ground or the mechanism is binding. Have you checked the mechanism for proper clean/lube and make sure everything is lined up and not binding? I've got a setup from a 1955 Olds 98 4 door and it has two motors. Does yours only have one? I may have a set of manual tracks, but a power seat in a 1955 is a pretty cool option. It would be nice if you can fix yours or if the motor really did go bad get a replacement.
