1951 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 hood info needed....
Hello fello forum members. I am working on a friends 1951 Oldsmobile Rocket 88 two door hard top. Both of the hood hinges are mounted to a stamped metal frame work that spans the front fenders near the fire wall.
I was able to remove the hood by removing about 12 screws/bolts and then lifting it off the car. The stamped metal frame that the hinges are mounted on stayed attached to the car and has been welded together before
due to old metal fatigue/stress areas. This same stamped part is now stress cracked again and needs more welding repair at this time. I would like to replace this whole stamped metal part but do not know what to call
it when I try to search for one. Can anyone tell me the proper name for this stamped metal bracket that the hinges mount to? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Mickeystan

An older parts book shows the same group number, but there it is shown as a single piece with the part number 557821. This is in the 1955 book while the two piece type above was in the 1958 book.

Ozzi, thanks for the reply. I would describe the piece I am trying to find a name for as a single piece support bar made of stamped steel with the hood hinges
attached to both ends of the stamped assembly. The hinges are then bolted to the car body on each side of the firewall. The hood itself attaches to the support
bar assembly with six screws (three per side at the edge of the hinges. The hood also attaches to the support bar with another six carriage bolts and nuts. Mickeystan
