1956 Olds Jetaway slips in reverse only

just bought this car and am getting the bugs out. it's been sitting awhile.
Got the brakes up today and drove it up to shift speed for the first time.
It runs and shifts great through all forward gears, But reverse slips with any uphill grade or resistance.
you can feel it go into and try to move while idling, but when you give it a little gas it just slips. I put it into reverse while it was jacked up to do the brakes. back wheels spun backward like normal. but with it on the ground, it slips. HELP and thanks shift pattern is PNDSLR

If it has been sitting a while maybe it needs the trans oil and filter changed

Try the oil and filter change. If no go, then either reverse clutch or piston apply seals for the reverse clutch have dried up. Good luck with the oil and filter change. BTW filter is about 65 dollars.

IF you can't get a filter and pan gasket at Summit or a local auto parts store then Fatsco should have one.

Very reasonable repair, this guy didn't gouge you at all. Good deal!
