ATF Fluid Level

Got a 72 Cutlass 455 with TH400 trans. if you check fluid level hot in park , car running level is at add mark. When coolds down, it reads full. No smell to fluid and totally clear/clean. Trans shifts fine. Confused if I should add pint of fluid. comments pls.
Thanks
Zacc

If the fluid level is not full while running in park, add fluid to the full mark... The reason the fluid level reads full when not running and cooled down is because the fluid from the converter and other areas of the trans drains back into the case since the case is not full as specified while running in park...

Add a pint. Should be checked fully warmed up.

Thanks guys, they always stress "do not overfill" so I figured I'd check. You guys are A-OK!

Foaming which isn't great but much better than really low fluid and only sucking air.
