ST-300 tail shaft seal or bearing question

On my '65, I believe it has the Jetaway variable-vane trans or ST-300. Not sure still new to these cars.. it's a two speed and I see the three wire mechanism up by the rear of the engine.

At any rate the output shaft seal leaks and appears to have been replaced before. I notice I can push the shaft/yoke upwards so there is obviously some play causing the seal to wear and leak. Is this anything I can fix with the trans in the car? Not sure what I'm dealing with here. Looks like the tail of the trans can be removed.

A few shops may have a bushing puller for a th350 and th400 yoke that can be done with trans in the car. Do you know what type of yoke yours has?

There is going to be some play in there with the yoke out, minimal with it in. The seal should be easy to get at the parts store.

I would just put a new seal in but it'll wear again until I get the bearing fixed. I believe what I need is a "tail housing extension bushing." The vertical play is the problem; it droops (slip yoke in/driveshaft hooked up), just not centered in the seal. If anyone knows where to get one for this, that would help.

here's the tool you need. You'll need to know what size yoke/bushing though first.
