Th400 transmission motor smoke

Hey guys, just changed the filter on my th400 and I'm getting a bunch of smoke after about 2 minutes of idle. Fluid levels are a tad bit low. Looks to be a leak somewhere on the back side of the motor where the tranny mounts to the motor, but I did not touch anything back there.

All I did was remove pan, change filter, add fluid. I did some research and came up with maybe the vacuum modulator is bad? I cleaned it off with a rag that was it.

Did it puke back up the dip stick tube? Maybe it just needs to settle a little.

nope it's still dry, but most of the smoke is coming from the passenger side manifold

Is it smoking out the tail pipe? Or just burning off the residue on the manifold.

Maybe the modulater went bad, I kinda doubt it.

Or maybe some fluid got in the line and sucked up in the engine and its now burning off. I'm really hoping this is just a simple thing, what else could it be?

I'm with you, what else could it be? Its only smoking on the passenger manifold side, maybe I dripped a little fluid on it but you think it would stop smoking after a few mins, but it just smokes more

Yea, give it some more time. Maybe it hasn't burned off yet.

Here's a vid, seems like a lot of constant smoke for it to be burning it off

Its probably fluid that dripped onto the exhaust while you were topping it off. It may take a a while to burn off! Or you possibly have a valve cover leak.

Thanks, I'll just hope is fluid that still needs to burn off. I had no smoke before i did the filter swap, I just figured the fluid would burn off faster than that

For future reference, if you dribble oil on the manifolds and want to cut down on the burn off time, spray it down with some carb spray or brakleen. just make sure the manifolds aren't hot or you could have a flash fire. Be careful of paint also as the solvents may harm your finish.

Might be your front shaft seal... I had a similar problem and had to replace the front shaft seal. Also might want to check if your motor oil filter is tight since it is on that side of the manifold as well.
