2-speed jetaway dip stick leaking

Hello,

on my ´66 f85 the dip stick is leaking. Where the tube sticks in the transmission case. The O ring is new. I read in this forum and in others, but how can I fix it. Where do I get a sleeve, a sealing or something else. Can I fix that, because the transmission is in the car.

Thank you very much

Greetings from Austria

If it still leaks and you replaced the o-ring I suggest going to a fatter o-ring. If this doesn't work then you can try to make the dip stick tube slightly wider at the bottom. I don't see any need to remove the transmission to fix this problem.

Remove the dipstick and clean the transmission opening with a good solvent cleaner. Clean up the tube with the same solvent cleaner. Install the proper size o ring and apply RTV spareingly around the ring. Re-install the tube and let the RTV set up before driving the car. Cleaning the opening in the trans is a very important step.

I will try that today. Thank you

Does anyone know the measurement of the tube and the measurement of the hole in the transmission case? Thank you
