Gasket material for firewall
I need to remove the HVAC units from the firewall. They look like some kind of sponge rubber gaskets were used. Are they available new or what should i use as a substitute? Thnx

I'd use self-adhesive foam tape available at the hardware store.

Open cell is not waterproof. Use closed cell.
Neoprene will eventually take a set, oxidize, and deteriorate (the way the factory gasket did).
Because of that, I experimented with using closed cell silicone foam from McMaster-Carr during an A/C rebuild 15 years ago. It still has flexibility.
