Trying to solve rear bumper wire mess

I have the factory service manual and the wiring diagram only shows one wire. Does anybody know where this one goes?
This one is brown and there is another one on the other side that is green. Any help is helpful, thanks in advance… Mark

Yes it does. This is a highly gerry rigged wiring and I believe that I have everything coming on when tested. It’s pretty simple on the diagram except it doesn’t show the extra wires…Mark

Looks like a 68 Toronado? If so, the wires on the middle socket are cut like that from the factory (the green wire on the center socket should be cut on both sides). All 3 bulbs light when the tail lights are on, but the middle ones do not have brake/ turn signal terminal wired.

Sorry, I was typing when you confirmed it was a 68 toronado. The single tan wire in post #5 is probably the fuel level sending unit wire as the license plate light wire should be a darker brown.

Cool, thanks that all makes sense. I am not able to test it on the car because it’s going off to paint soon. I have a question, how can the toronado emblem on the back be safely removed?

I have every other emblem off the car but this one, or two, has me spooked…Mark

You have to pry it out very gently evenly and slowly. It is held in with push pin barrel clips. There are 2 pins on the lower "by Oldsmobile" emblem and I think there are 3 pins on the upper "Toronado" emblem.

Thanks Again, I used a body spatula to safely get them out. You were correct on everything, but there are four pins on the script part. Now it’s ready for paint… Mark

Post some pics if you get a chance. What color combo is the car?
