chewed wire help
ok i was trying to get the 68 running and i seen a fried wire. fixed it. then i seen what was left of a wire comeing from the bottom wire harness that is on the firewall. i traced it to the other side and its a thick red wire that once it go's to the bay area it splits in to two graysh black wires( one of these wires is the chewed wire). here is a pix. any idea were it runs to. i tried to look it up on a diagram but with no luck. any ideas? thanks
The pic is still very small. IF the wire was chewed by a mouse or just frayed from years of rubbing against something then you need to cut out the bad part and splice in new wire. Use heat shrink and a soldering iron to make the repair last.
I looked at my wire diagram that I have and find no Grayish/Black wires out of the bulk head connector. I do show a large Red one on the inside under the dash but it comes back out in the engine compartment as a Red.
Does the car have any power in the engine compartment for starting or anything else?

You may be uploading the thumbnail of the image and not the image itself. Not sure how to correct that but viewing the image you do have it looks like you have focused on the wires very close to the bulkhead connector. If this is true you may not be able to get close enough to repair the wires. I am going to wait for a better image to recommend a repair.
I agree if you have one fried or chewed wire there will be more and its not worth the car burning up. Replace the dash harness or at least inspect it all as mice will chew the crap out of everything
so far i have pulled the whole harrness out from under the hood and checked and fixed (replaced with new same gage wire) all the spots. next i was going to pull out the dash harrness and do the same. i hate rats lol.
