68 Air deflector Partial Part # 535-LH

Hello: I have a 68 Cutlass/Vista air deflector across the width of the core support under the car. There is a smaller air deflector attached attached on the driver side and i have a partial part number 535-LH. There are several what looks like leading zeros and I can't read the first digit(s). It sure looks like there was a pass side at one time. I don't recall seeing these parts before. Were they used 68-72 or only part of those years? Anyone know the complete part number and its value? Regards, Trent in Los Angeles

I'm pretty sure it's a '68-only part. I have both a '68 and '69 4-4-2 and the deflectors are different for each of those years.

Smile 68 Air Deflector

Hi Randy: Is this a great site or what? Thank you very much. I suspected some problem here with this part. Nothing like it is reproed. I don't even see a repro'ed large deflector that hangs below the core support the width of the car. Were yours factory installed? Did you ever see one or a pair for sale and what was the list price? Is it possible for you to read the complete part number? You don't have to remove it from the car. It is on the small flat edge that faces the ground. Should be easy to see from under the car. Thank you in advance for any other help you can. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles

Yes, mine was factory-installed - it's a Lansing car. The air dam/deflector actually consists of 3 pieces - the center piece, part number 398171, and the two side pieces (driver side part number 400535-LH and passenger side part number 400534-RH) which are stapled to the center piece. The complete set-up is hard to find as it is a one-year-only part and I'm pretty sure no one reproduces them. There was a used one in pretty good condition for sale on this site not to long ago and, as I recall, it went fast. I don't remember the asking price. I would place an ad in the "parts wanted" section of this site and see what happens.

This is a great site! I started restoring my '68 14 years ago and got lots of help just looking in here. It also helped me greatly when I did my '69 from about 2014 to 2016.

68 Air Deflector

Hi Randy: Thank you so much for your help. Nice to have a record of the three part numbers. You were right, back in June of this year someone advertised the three pieces for $75 and it went fast. There is also more information of those parts from older posts. It is great to be able to help each other out like this. Thank you again Randy. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles
