Yesterday at Mecum when auctioning an A/C equipped H/O someone said only 302 H/Os were equipped with A/C. I had never heard a specific number before (and actually I assumed it would have been closer to 1/2 or more were so equipped). Was this an extrapolation (as is many times the case with sellers trying to trump up their ad) or is this a documented number?

 

What year, Mike? I could believe those figures for either 68 or 69 or even the 74 W30, but as the H/O lived on, it was more unusual to find one without it.

 

'68 H/O's 153 out of 515 had A/C and 3.08:1 rear gears

'69 H/O's had 3.23:1 rear gears if ordered with A/C which accounted for roughly 1/3 of production

 

I'm sorry, 1969 was the year I was asking about. I guess the key word I see in GAOldsman's answer is "roughly" meaning there wasn't an exact number which is why I was surprised Mecum gave an exact number of 302. I didn't think GM kept an exact breakdown of options-by-model but you have an exact number for '68s so maybe there is a breakdown by option. Thank you. I was just curious.

 

I have seen (read it) to be closer to 50/50 but no real data . I wanted a non ac car . I seem to see more with than without . Who now's what the survival rate of them are .
