68 H/O production number?

How do you determine the production number of a 1968 Hurst Olds ? what number out of the 515 ? Where can it be located on the car or where can I recearch it ? any help is appreciated.

Dang, that's a good question. I started looking for an answer on the web. There are guys who claim they have number 511 or 53 or whatever of the 515 but they don't say how they authenticate that.

You can PM hurstoldz. He has a 68 and he says his is #511, so he should know where to get the info.

I saw his web page. Fan dang tastic looking car and excellent detail shots. Great write up too. But his blog doesn't say where to find it either. Must be a secret HO club thing.

The H/O club has the list by VIN number. It's not always easy to get them to verify it though.

Contact Karl Sarpolis (karlskorner@msn.com), he is the H/OCA 1968 H/O advisor. He can tell you by your VIN the Demmer # and I think the selling dealership. The Demmer number will not be the 'production' number, but it will be close. From what I understand, Demmer assigned the numbers as the received the cars, parked them out back and then pulled them in to make the modifications. So if you have something like Demmer # 400, then it's probably within 10 cars either way of production.

I got mine (number 184) from Judy Badgley - the OCA advisor for H/O's. You give her your VIN number and they confirm whether your car is an authentic H/O and tell you your Demmer number. I believe the list is not available to the public in order to thwart the fakers.
