I already ran them once on a previous combo worked great !!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is about 1100 into my heads alone it has big stainless steel valves, bigger springs, and rocket racing even did the bowl worl for free : )

That's good news. My #7 heads on the other hand which were done by RR ( which came on the engine they also built ), consisted of having only some of the valve guides done even though I payed to have them all done. The guides that were done, were installed crooked so my valves wouldn't seal. I was also supposed to have bigger valves, but they never put them in ( though I wasn't charged for them ). Same thing with hardened exhaust seats. Let's not forget the 3 angle performance valve job I was charged $200 for that was never done either. But hey, at least they screwed me over on my final compression ratio too which was supposed to be 8.8 but measures out to only 8.1 or so. John Stolpa now avoids me when I try contacting him because he knows he screwed me over, he knows that I know he screwed me over, and doesn't want to make it right. He is a liar, a crook, and a coward. But this thread is not about this, so I will leave it at that.

Ehhh. That's why I build my own stuff. I have never had issues with john. His prices are a bit steep sometimes on parts but usually he has what I need in stock. He has built 2 sets of heads for me and he built the trans I'm running.

It's in it's in it's in finally !!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope my patience will pay off. I got it installed in just over 6.5 hours that removal and installation. It's all ready to go all i need is fluids, prime the oil system and stab in the dist. Im waiting till next weekend. My dad can help me fire it up and i dont trust anyone but my dad to fire uo my new engines as he already knows the routine since he always helps me.

Ok guys just a mini update. I added coolant and oil. I primed the oil system and we have oil to the top end. I will re prime tommorow before initial start up and cam break in. I have no leaks and all systems are go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only issue i have is the leaky intake at the rails. It leaks oil. Im going to smootch it for now with black rtv. If that dont work i found a place that sells cork gasket material and im tempeted to make my own rail gaskets from it . I think i didnt apply as much silicone as i should have.
#134
Drove it today. Mannnnn this thing has some giddy up !!!!!!! Didn't get into it too much but it's much better than the last set up. I'm gonna fix the leaky intake and it's all set.
#138
Thanks I'm lookin for just a 12.9. Anything faster is even better. The limiting factor might be the carb to some extent. I'm running a 650 holley dp some guy say 750 3310 will work better. I have a line on a 770 street avenger but if I hit 12's with this set up I'm not gonna mess with it.
#141
Glad to see its running. I need to catch up. Still pretty far behind. Once I get my q-jet running I will have a Holley 750 DP for sale. Too much Carb for my setup.

Ok guys. Just a little update. I got the intake gasket issue fixed., no more oil leaking. I put new oil in it and a filter and put some fresh 93 in it. Man this thing has some throttle response !!!!!!!!!! I left the gas station and just bliped the throttle and i had them spinning instantly. I didn't stay in it long but the power this combination makes. Atleast on the butt dyno is much beter than my old 350 combo and all i did was go .030 and bigger cam. It also runs supper smooth the idle is choppy but the engine does not shake a whole lot and while crusing it's just smooth. Im hoping to take out tommorow again for a little longer drive once i fix my leaky oil sending unit leak. Just need a new compression fitting sleeve and im good. So far so good. the more i drive it the longer the drives will be this one was just a little 20 minute drive around town. i still have to make sure nothing else leaks and make sure it wont leave me on the side of the road. Hopefully in a month or so we will have some 1/4 mile times to post up.

Guys have ran mid 15's mostly stock, with 5A 307 HO Hurst/Olds and 442's. I know one non 442 running 15.2's, close to stock, mild cam and Sanderson's. Mid 14's on the computer has been done. I am hoping to pick up a 87 442, maximize the swirl port turd with bolt on's, 15 flat would be cool. Then build my 424 ci stroker and really kick but. No more exploding 7.5" rears.
15.3@ 91mph 83 H/O on a hot summers night only mod was headers
#146
I never did get the chance to get the 307 to the track. It needed a rebuild as it was max oil psi was 25 while crusing. I did manage to beat a mid 70's corvette up untill i ran out of steam somewhere between 4000 rpm and it fell flat on it's face lol. Now time to get back on track with the 355 .

Nice work dude. I watched the vid and the engine sounds mean. This is really inspirational for me because I'm about to start a budget 350 build. Mine is gonna be really ghetto, but I want it to run hard.
Those are impressive ET's btw, way more than I ever achieved with my SBO

Track times will have to wait for a few more weeks than expected. On a good note my friend stopped by and let me have his near new 750 holley 3310 for 75 bucks so i have a diffrent carb to test out. Been enjoying the good weather and hanging out with old friends driving the car.
#152
well times will have to wait yet again. I installed a new flexplate as the one I had was bent. Since im down there im going to change to new to me headers and do some exhaust work since I extended the collectors. Im also going to do suspension work before I hit the track the car needs it along with new front tires. But the engine is still running very very strong. No issues no alarming noises besides maybe bad trans / flex plate or possibly a hint of detonation once I out the trans back in im adding 8 gallons of 110 Sunoco.

Well I thought I would follow up on this thread I know a few people wanted e.t.'s. Well life seems to be getting In the way. I have been driving my car and doing all kinds of repairs as well. I put in a new flex plate. My old one was wobbly. I finally found that grinding noise in the top of 3rd gear I think it's my drive shaft or trans. I ruled everything else out. Other than that the engine has been running really good.

I still have not forgotten about this thread. E/T's for this season will have to wait I decided to get some other things in order for safety's sake. I did all new suspension, doing some new safer fuel lines , finishing my rear firewall, and im improving my cooling system as the car ran cool while driving but not enough flow at idle, I also rebuilt a th350 that's going in pretty soon. Im going to a th350 from a 400 in an effort to free up some ponies, . Although im bummed out I got no track time as this will be season number 2 I sat out and I wont be able to get some baseline numbers . Im happy to say the engine runs well, No noises no smoke , no major leaks, . Hopefully by next april when the track opens I will be ready and all set to go with nothing left to do but enjoy it and race it.

Well. Its been a while but this build finally saw the track. A few things changed like the cam . but nothing major. Off the trailer with no tuning and a carb stumble we went 13.09 @ 103 mph . Not too shabby for a little swap meet build that even after addressing a cam issue that was eating the bearings and buying a new timing set still cost appx 4k . just thought i would bring this thread to an end.
