I used it with a brush but if I had the facilities I would have sprayed it. The block came out nice but the smooth areas leave a little to be desired (such as the oil pan.)

I used it on my 350, and I brushed it on, on the block and heads. I think it looks great, but I think I will spray it on when it comes to the oil pan and oil fill tube. They are smooth and the brush will leave strokes. The block and heads are rough enough that you can not tell it was brushed on.
These valve covers will be coming off, just temporary. But the real ones will need to be sprayed as well.

Overall, I would say that if I were going to do it again, I would probably just spray the whole thing. Brushing looks fine on some of it, but if you have to set up the sprayer anyhow....
