Painting the engine block

Painting the engine block

I fully rebuilding a # matching 350 1972 422.. I'm getting the intake manifold painted yellow, chrome valve covers and debated wether or not to paint the engine block black or the Gold...Any suggestions?? or does any one have pics to post of their engine bays??

Lots of variables; body color, how much other chrome is on the engine, what color the "yellow" is, etc. Off the cuff, I would recommend black, it goes with anything.

I would paint it the gold color, just to keep it original looking.

I was thinking Black the Black heads, yellow intake manifold, chrome valve covers, and yellow brackets for the alternator and and stuff... I looked but couldn't find any pictures on the internet of engine bays to get a idea of what it would kind look like..

Black. That would look sharp. I think gold and yellow wouldn't look good together.

I agree on the black man.. i just had a full engine build too, and i painted it Black. gave it a chrome air cleaner.. and man it looks Great; ill post pictures when sometime next week

Yea I thought the whole bumble bee thing to... Post them pictures I would like to see how that came out.. When I get started on this I'll post pics as well.. I'm goin to clean the firewall up and all the wiring as well....

Black was also the original color for the Olds 307!
