Question Red line on a 68 350

Like the title says:

What is the red line on the 350 395558 block?

I don't go above 5k, but I may have the car on a dyno tomorrow and I want to know what the red line is.

I've heard 5500. I want to keep it under 5200 at the most. It only gets to 4600 in the 1/4 mile

It should go to 5500 safely, but it will be done making power long before that, so why do it?

It doesn't have a rev limiter so I want to stop it before that point

Does it have a tach and/or a shift light?

The "old school" definition of "red line", is your "shift point". There are some variables but, for you, the RPM at the peak HP reading, minus 500 for the 1-2 and plus 200, for the 2-3 shift, might be a good starting point.

Since you asked about a specific "Block" We could assume you mean its breaking point. Simply put: At your power level, you cannot rev it high enough to break it.

If you are looking for a more specific answer, you will need to clarify your question.

Yeah I have a tach in the car.

Plus I was looking at a Mallory dist. and it has a rev limiter. I'd probably set it at 5200
