Oil Filter
I remember reading that the AC filter is not very good anymore, I looked up a Purolator and didn't see anything listed fo my 70 Cutlass 350. The mobile 1 is overpriced. On other forums the consensus is that a lot of brands are junk. I beleive I also read that there is a Purolator which will work on a 70 Olds but I don't know the number.
I use Bosch...I believe they are made by Purolator as well...It's a good filter and isn't outrageously expensive...about $6.99. I also read that about the only Fram worth considering is the Tough Guard series...but they are about the same price as the Bosch.
Wix and NAPA Gold since it is the same thing. Good oil and good filters are cheap insurance. Olds64 I bet you have put a lot of money in your engine. Why jeopordize it for a few buck you will save on oil and a filter. I bet you Dad will tell you the same thing.
Here is an in depth study of oil filters...

Here are the final opinions from the tester:

I have read through this before and most of the advice already given in this thread stands to agree with the test's conclusions. I looked into this deeply last year and actually looked at some filters at the store - I still agree with the tester's conclusions.
True, the AC delco filter WAS a good one, but not ones mfgd after 2008. I have ONE "good" Delco filter on the shelf - I will keep it as the "last of the good ones".
-Edit- The older ones are still out there - i found three at Oreilly's on 10-26-10! They have the 6 inlet holes and no "E" after the part number on the box.
The NEWER CRAPPY AC Delco filers can be identified by an "E" at the end of the part number (stands for Ecore (which stands for - get this - economy core!)) and 8 small inlet holes.
The Frams are mostly shunned, except for the toughguard. However, that black crap on the end crumbles, defeating its purpose of removing it easily.
Wix, Purolator, Napa, and Motorcraft seem to be the best popular filters.
