Smile Octane Booster?

Has anyone tried octane booster in a small block?

I have not seen any mention of the use of this additive.....

Any Advice?

Thanks,

Why would you put octane booster in your car? If your car pings when running regular then just put mid grade or premium in it.

The only reason you would want to put an additive in gasoline is if you have non hardened seats and you want to put lead additive in the gasoline. Then again, I've heard this isn't even necessary. I never used it before I had both of my Olds engines rebuilt, and the heads were just fine when the machinist put in hardened seats.

I was just curious.....

I run half 91 octane and half 93 octane without pinging. The original owner did the same. There's a fillum-up near my home that has no-ethanol fuel. I also add some CD-2 Lead Substitute, although most folks don't bother.

Thanks for the input!

As long as your engine doesn't ping you should be fine.

Keep in mind if they say the booster raises your octane by 10 points it goes like this

93 octane + a bottle of octane booster= 93.10 octane rating not 103 like you would think,I have been told octane booster is kinda a scam..........I mix my gas for my car when I race it,Half racing type gas half pump gas,This is a 455 with 9.1 compression and iron heads and the ONLY time i have issues is dead of summer heat,Other wise I use just 93 octane .......Even with the nitrous,If your getting pinging with a stock compression engine you have problems elsewere contributing to that..........Jerr

I don't think it's Kerosene. Kerosene is normally only about 75-80 octane.

Run whatever fuel it doesn't ping on and leave it alone.

I think adding nitro to hydrazine would be anti-productive.

As I recall, back in the day, I ran regular gas in my 98's. They de-tuned the engine and the cars ran fine. Do not remember what the octane ratings were back then. I remember that I got 22 or 23 MPG highway. I was on the road selling in those days and I used to put on around 80 to 85,000 miles a year. Never had a problem with Oldsmobile's!

Just got Olds factory chassis and body manuals and found out that Olds had a V-6 in 1965 for the f-85's.

No, I'm NOT going to blow it up!
