Degree wheel socket

Hi all,

I'm looking for some feedback from anyone who's purchased a degree wheel socket for a small block Oldsmobile. I'm planning to degree my cam shaft in soon and want to buy one of these. Thanks for your help in advance.

I bought a degree wheel with the bigger bolt opening I wanna say like 3/4 and i used a bushing that fit in the opening of the degree wheel and tight on the bolt . Then i used 2 high psi fuel clamps to keep it straight and tight on the bushing. It was a tight fit. I found the bushings at the local hardware store. I used the original bolt from the balancer to turn it.

the one I bought had a girly Chevy hole like 1/2"
no good for a 3/4" Olds bolt.
I modified it to suit
larger diameter is better
Balancer washers might work well to pinch the wheel well to the crank.

I prefer to turn the motor via the flexplate because if you alter the degree wheel's setting at all, you have to START OVER with zeroing it.

I have an old Moroso wheel and it has a large hole with several aluminum bushings for different sizes. the socket you are asking about is called a crank turning nut, you can get at Summit racing or another place similar for around 20.00 should cover it. they slip over the crank snout and lock on the keyway to turn the crank with a big wrench.

Funny you should mention this. Decades ago, I bought an "Oldsmobile" degree wheel from Mondello (back when I lived in SoCal and could actually drive to his place in the valley). This special degree wheel was a Moroso wheel with the center hole drilled out. They just drilled right through the shrink wrap and cardboard that it was packaged in.

our jegs degree wheel fits over the stock damper bolt.

installed the degree wheel and locked the flywheel to torque it down and be able to rotate in both directions.

There is this

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Speedway...ef3a1d&vxp=mtr

from a search of ePay
but
they can't be bothered to cite the ID of course, so you cannot tell if it fits your Olds engine.

and the set screw touches the round part of the crank- bad execution. Securing to the key would be better. I guess you can always file the crank smooth when done.
