Coolant Issues

I have a 1972 cutlass 350. I noticed while driving I could smell coolant and when I checked the the coolant in the radiator after I was home a while I noticed small air bubbles and what appeared to be a oil sheen. Any thaughts on what my problem is?

Possibly a faulty head gasket allowing combustion gases to enter the cooling system. THey have tests for it.

You should do a compression test to see if your head gasket is in good condition.

A leak that small probably won't show up in a compression test, it might in a leakdown test.

Agreed. It would even have to be fairly large to show up on a leak down. This is why they have special testers for this that actually connect to the rad and change color if it detect combustion gases.
