Hello,
My name is chris and I've got an 87' 442 equipped with an engine block warmer. The other day I noticed a puddle of coolant under my car, so I started it to find the leak and found out that its coming from the engine block warmer...which is mounted in the bottom right engine block...I don't know a whole lot about block warmers... and if anyone could help me out with info on how to go about repairing this it would be much appreciatted. Ok, found out that what I need to do the job is a softplug or a new block warmer...I bought a soft plug and know how to install it, what I don't know is if there is a special tool required to remove the bad block heater. The motor is a stock 307 if that helps. I noticed the soft plug has a 5/8 nut on it to snug it in and cause a seal, but I don't feel a nut on the block heater...which has left me wondering how to go about removing it. Any info would be a big help!

If you want to remove it without damaging it, I am not sure. If you don't care about damaging it, just use a narrow chisel or punch and knock one edge out like you would a factory freeze plug. I think those things are compression fit so good luck.
