307 swap to older quadrajet and distributor

I have an 84 olds 98 and I got a carb from a 403 and a vacuum distributor I’m gonna swap onto it to not run off the ccc anymore. Can I leave all the rest of the emissions stuff alone for right now and just swap the carb and the distributor and still run?

I’m gonna be getting a b and m lock up kit for the trans
I also read on here that u have to rewire the a/c some how too
what exactly has to be don’t to retain the a/c?

I believe it is the ground for the relay or maybe the full throttle cut out switch, it has been a long time. The wiring in my 88 was a melted mess when I got it. Do you have cruise control? The ground wire to the speed sensor needs grounded for it to work as well.

Do I just splice into the ground wire on the compressor and ground it somewhere else or?

I just cut the wire added a big ring terminal and grounded it to the big attaching bolt on the compressor. The grounds go through the ECM, once it is eliminated, you have an open circuit, which is why those wires need grounded. I asked that question, many years ago at Ford school when I was an apprentice.

I located that wire in the chassis service manual.

Yes, there is still the specially timed port on the 70's Qjets. Pre 80 and Canadian cars used EGR without the CCC system.
