2bbl 2 4bbl swap w/2711 intake

Ok I've read all the threads I can find on co about swapping out my 69 cutlass 2bbl for a 4bbl. I've searched you tube for video (some are really funny). I decided to go with the edelbrock 2711 intake and the stock quadra jet. I diagramed my 2bbl set up and photographed every inch of where everything goes. I photographed my edelbrock intake printed the photo and labeled where everything should attach on it. My question is where does the PVC hose go on the edelbrock? On my 2 bbl it goes in the back of the carb. On the Qjet 4bbl there is no connection for it. I'm thinking the only place it can go is up front on the intake
but not sure. Also can I fabricate a bracket for an electric choke conversion that can be slipped over the center intake mounting bolts ?

My PCV hose went to the front of the carb on my original Quad, also the same as the edelbrock in between the two idle mixture screws, although the 69 4bbl carbs may be different.

OK, the first thing is don't over think this. The PCV simply needs to be hooked up to a manifold vacuum port. Doesn't matter if it's in the front of the carb, back of the carb, or a manifold runner. So long as it's straight manifold vacuum, it will work fine.

I don't know what you mean by a "bracket" for the electric choke, however.

I thought I could just plug it into any vacuum on the intake but wanted an expert to say so. What I mean by the choke issue is the 69 has a divorced choke that pulls down the butterfly (I know you know that) the new intake has no provision for this. I have seen electric choke conversions that have the electric heating element that bolts to the intake an then connects to the butterfly. The edelbrock has nothing to bolt this too. I was thinking I could make a bracket for this then bolt it to the center intake bolt when I install it but I'm kinda worried I may cause a leak if I do this.

I thought that might be what you meant. You probably know that the divorced choke electric conversion kit is supposed to bolt to the pocket on the stock intake. I don't know if you can get the conversion choke in the right place on the E-brock intake with a bracket, but if you can, that would be great. Putting the bracket under the bolt heads on the intake-to-head bolts is no different than putting a washer there, so don't worry about that.

Thanks a lot for the help, I think now I'm ready to do this. I think I'll just go with a manual choke.

A later Qjet with the integral choke housing would fix this. Just block off the vacuum port inside and add an electric choke coil. I hate manual choke but have at it, if you can live with it.

I considered that approach but from these threads I saw the newer carbs were tuned and set up different and I don't have the skills to mess with it. At this point I already have a rebuilt 69 carb. I hear what you are saying and agree but I don't think the hand choke will be that big a deal.

If you guys would get over your Holley phobias you could just bolt a 9834 on, everything thing hooks up very easy and it works perfect out of the box on most stock engines.

I got no problem with a holly had plenty in past cars. I just like the configuration on the quad. I am sure I can fabricate an electric choke set up.

Mine is a 3711 that was practically given to me or I would have chosen either the 2711 or RPM model. - Steven

For a long, long time the 3711 Performer 350 and the 7111 Performer RPM were the only choices. I don't know when the 2711 non-EGR manifold was introduced.

I will never ever install a turkey pan gasket again. Got the intake on . What a pain. I will finish the swap tomorrow. If it leaks I will retry but not with another valley pan.

Some of those valley pans dont line up correctly. The tabs dont go in exactly like they should. It's best to do a dry fit first. Once you get all the tabs in the holes its not bad. What problems did you have?

I dry fit it twice but when I set the intake in it it pulled one side down out of alignment every time.

The Felpro pans snap right in from my experience. I had fun with the Corteco pan I picked up for cheap from Rockauto for the Olds powered 4x4.
