Newbie needs some guidance on accy brackets

Hello. I’m an old newbie. I have no experience with Olds. The reason I joined is I
bought a 1955 Pontiac Safari and it has a 1965 Olds 442 engine with no power steering brackets and no alt.bracket (crappy homemade). My question is what will work on this? This is probably in the wrong place. Sorry

Welcome. You didn't mention A/C so I'll assume that is not needed.

Which brackets you want depends on the available space. The 65-67 cars used high mount PS pump brackets. If clearance to the frame or steering box is an issue, you probably want to use these. This is a 1965. The 66-67 cars used an alternator bracket that looks like the later ones, but the alternator is in the same place.

The 1968-76 cars used brackets that mount the PS pump low on the driver's side. These are probably more common.

I just went through the same bracket headaches, Joe and Nick were very helpful. Here’s the link.
