All of these pictures have already been posted in this thread somewhere but they are all of the same car with the most recent being Seven Corners Shell in green campaigned by Bill Robinson and Jim Michaels. I've been told the car survived and is in pristine condition.

I turned my back on a 1968 Olds 442 W-30 convertible 4 speed car for sale at a local Oldsmobile dealership in 1976 because I wanted a hardtop or a sedan. I still prefer hardtops or sedans but WHAT A MISTAKE. I didn't look at the car in detail but my guess is that it was all original because I saw the car in the area for years and it didn't appear to be beat on. Asking price was $1,400.

Hey TK, I'm surprised you had a picture of a non-1965 442. Glad you posted it for us and please get some more. How about the white-wall front tires on that yellow '70!

Today is Pete Kost's 80th birthday. Here's a photo from his younger days. Pete was very successful racing Oldsmobiles in Junior Stock.

My condolences to the Kost family and friends. Did not know that just saw that posted up yesterday. Yes, they are straight up pre '65 and traditional to the core over there.

On another note.... I recall a certain someone here on CO that stated Oldsmobile never used the term "Ram Air" And here is a factory sponsored '68 with it plainly lettered on the fender

This is a 67, the Mack Markowitz car. Not to argue but I would not say that Oldsmobile used the word Ram Air just because a racer put it on his car. Just my opinion. This is still one of the greatest threads on CO

Notice the under bumper scoops on the 69 442 are painted white.
I think the reason they are painted white is because white does not hold the heat like black. I remember some racers painting there gas tanks white for that reason. I myself do not believe it does anything but I have seen it done on cars back in the day.

That's really weird because in '65 442s were in B/S and BB/S. The '66 W-30 fell into C/S and was dominant. You are saying that the '67 was bumped TWO classes? They would have had to run some Hemis and L78 Chevrolets. That doesn't sound right. What was the factored HP for a '67 ?

The A/SA class was actually A/S with automatic trans. So with the A/S class being designated at 8.70 - 9.49 lbs/hp. Take a '67 442 with a 350 hp 400 ci that weights roughly 3450 lbs and you get ~9.85 lbs/hp, so I am thinking he lightened the car up a bit and the scales put him in that class based on rated hp But you are right it should be a B/S designation.
