He's doing it to make you look bad and him look good. I've never seen such BS over a guy-you- trying to help get a product to market. If he is so connected with Edelbrock I wonder why he isn't in on the ground floor with product production? If anybody is wondering,I don't know Mark & have never talked to him or bought anything from him.

Not trying to expose anyone, just sayin I've sold Edelbrock heads for less than Summit. I don't set Summits prices, and I wouldn't say I get any special deals. I will say this, with the parts shortage, you can bet these manufactures are filling Summits orders before other parts houses, fortunately I have a way around that in some cases, my parts shelves are quite full!

I can tell you I'm not trying to keep EFI from bringing Oldsmobile products to the market, I'm all for it. And anyone who has Oldsmobile dealing with me knows I'am not trying to sell them parts, infact in some cases I've told customers to deal with EFI on the parts, so I think you could have this wrong. I make my money on the machine work, not selling parts, I simply don't have time for it. But make no mistake out there, I can if I want too sell Edelbrock heads for less than Summit..................

I don't understand what is wrong with this statement. Who is he exposing ? I have a friend that gets Harland Sharp's at half the price I can get them on the open market. If he decides to sell them 25% cheaper than Summit, who is he exposing ? Is he exposing anyone ? NO !
Could it be that he is selling a product at less of a markup than other supply houses. I have bought hundreds of items elsewhere that where cheaper than Summit.
Why is everything this guy (Vortecpro) says seem to be a problem. I have read many thread's to which he has responded and he seems to be very knowledgeable. Is he not allowed an opinion... Is this not America !
Once again, nothing wrong with his statement. So why call him a " Moron".

I have to add... I have read many post's that Mark mentions he can give someone a deal on a particular product because he is a dealer.
Define "DEAL" ?! To me, a deal is a cheaper price. Nothing else !
So I'm guessing there are lots of morons out there.

Every major manufacturer today has what they call a MAP program, Minimum Advertised Price. They control the advertised price so guys don’t get undercut, and they monitor the internet quite extensively. MSD started doing it years ago. You can offer stuff like free shipping, T shirts etc but the price of the actual item can’t be below the MAP. You can do stuff “behind the scenes” as well but again the PRINTED price can’t be below the MAP.
Velcro has now opened himself up to scrutiny. But that’s his problem now, not mine. That’s just one reason why Imo he’s a moron.

" You tell me how you will sell them cheaper than a HUGE volume big box store"

This above post was exactly the reason I posted what I pay for a set of Edelbrock Oldsmobile heads 1604.00, well I think Summits over 2000.00 so its obvious I could sell them under Summits price if I choose to do so.

If those Edelbrock heads are not out by September, I am going to start a #CancelEdelbrock petition.

I also have a LS engine on stand-by that will go into the Olds.

So February 2022 for delivery

This shouldn't surprise anyone. The whole supply chain is screwed up,food, parts, building materials, toilet paper(that has improved lately) etc. and just about anything that is in demand. It just shows how fragile things really are.

Bull ****!! Working in the construction industry. Building is in full force! I have designing fire sprinkler systems almost nonstop to keep up! Materials is limiting building. And worker who refuse to follow heath guidelines. Others laid off last year, force to go into business for themselves to survive!

The reason why the Olds 455 Edelbrock heads wont' be available for another 6 months is probably a multitude of reasons. Could one of the reasons be a lack of skilled workers? Possibly but it's not the main factor why the heads will not be ready for such a long time. There are probably a dozen reasons why they are being delayed so long.

One can go and purchase Chevy Edelbrock heads & intakes right now. Plenty of stock available for those applications. So Edelbrock is producing other heads and parts. No shortage there.

For those of us with engines that cannot be assembled without these new heads. Waiting another 6-8 months is not very promising. Life is short and time is not on our side. Getting an LS engine installed and getting a car on the road again is a very appealing option right now. LS parts are available everywhere.

Then once the Olds heads are released, one can swap put the LS back to an Olds 455.

You know I'am having construction work done myself, and I have to agree with you, I've had no problem getting construction work done. What I do notice is when I go to some restaurants they are closed due to staff problems. They don't want to work.......

BTW whats refusing to follow health guidelines mean?

This about New E heads. Take more time in this age of the pandemic to do anything. Last I will say about this! Restaurant workers move along to different jobs. They are just not there any more and move to other jobs and locations.

Workers on large project are required to wear masks. I am not talking about small project like yours. Large fire sprinkler contractor I design for, had to fire his own son for refusing to wear one in Texas. Large corporation, know this **** is real and will cost money, if not stopped. Giving China a upper hand to eat our lunch! Stop changing the subject! It forces me to rebuff! PM me if you want to talk more!

Back to the topic at hand

Just for kicks, I called Edelbrock and the rep on the phone stated the reason for the delay is that they are having a hard time getting the parts for the heads (valve guides, valves, springs, etc). The heads themselves are cast and ready but the parts to finish assembly are outsourced and they cannot get those parts right now. They claimed once they get the parts, they can then resume machining and finish the heads but until then, everything sits.

Take it for what it is but that is what I was told over the phone.

Pretty much what I eluded to in post #578.
Y’all need to take everything everybody other than me or Edelbrock tells you with a grain of salt.

The vendors supplying the valve, retainers, locators, springs, keepers, don't want to work, there quite content to collect unemployment.

Japanese car chip provider cannot keep up with demand due to COVID19 shutdowns. It has nothing to do with Japanese workers not wanting to work.

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/c...-car-industry/

Blaming the Edelbrock parts shortage on lazy unemployed US workers is just plain stupid. Plus many of the parts needed come from overseas
