What is the max lobe or valve lift that can be achieved with a hydraulic roller camshaft and lifter combination?

 

I have .650 in the latest one I did.

 

Is it based off of RPM? Just wondering if I could go greater than .650?

TO actually answer your question. The max lift of a lobe has more to do with the minimum bace circle size. When a cam is ground the more lift needed the smaller the base circle becomes. So depending on the core used you can only go so small. The most common cast cam cores used with hydraulic rollers today only allow about .650 lift at 1.6:1 ratio. The best way with current cores is to increases your rocker ratio. Minimum bace circle has a lot to do with lobe design and you should talk to a grinder.

Running very large lift numbers with a hydraulic roller requires slot of attention to the rest of the valve train. It's better to run a solid as it allows springs that can control the valve action better.

 

Biggest HR lobe I’ve seen is from Bullet Cams. .450” is .720” with Olds 1.6 rockers.

there are off the shelf HR’s for bb Chev’s with .680” lift….That’s with awful valve train angles and a heavier valve train than the Olds.
