1955 headlight switch

Hey, I need a [working] headlight switch for my 1955 ninety-eight. Anyone have one they could part with or know where I could find one?

If your headlight switch is like the one on my 64 98 it pulls out to turn on the headlights and the brights are controlled by a foot toggle. You could concievably get a generic pull out switch from Radio Shack and mount it behind the dash. Then you take the **** off of the switch you have now and put it on the new switch. Of course, this is only if you have a pull type headlight switch.

The headlight switch also has a reostat that controls the dash lights. Olds64, I think your idea would be a good temporary fix. Neg will probably have better luck getting the pull type switch at an auto parts store or Tractor Supply.

I do have a temporary fix right now, but thanks for the suggestion. I'd really just like a working one from a 1955 olds.

If you still have yours in the car, take the switch out and try cleaning the contacts. I am unfamiliar with a '55 setup, but either my '57 or '59 had a fuse in back of the headlight switch assembly.

If your still looking, i bet my brother who passed away has one. If another member reads this and shows me a picture. I'm 95% positive he has one. he didnt throw away anything and parted out at least a 55 and a 54 olds. he's got all kinds of 55 olds parts that i have no clue what they are. charles chip8@msn.com
