Have a 72 supreme. Has anyone painted the metal radiator cover as well as the piece of metal under the cover that runs width of car in the original black? If so what shade did you use,flat,semi gloss,gloss? I painted mine with a flat black didn't turn out well. I want something that will clean up well,flat black doesn't. Also what brand paint do you think is best? What kind of primer? How many coats primer and paint? Any help would be great

I guess we would need to know what method you are using, Spray cans,spray
Gun,what type spray gun. Regardless of the answers from above ,you probably don't want "Flat black".Also tell us what are your plans for the car,daily driver, weekend local car shows,or even 100 point Show Car. Larry

I used a Krylon semi-gloss black rattle can on mine. No primer, just hand sanded and sprayed.

Eastwood's Underhood Black would be a good choice.

If you want gloss, I high recommend Mercuiser Phantom black. Also called Quick Silver. And if you really want it protected, use their clear coat. This stuff is great for all applications, suspension, engine, engine brackets.
