Need advise on how to handle/sell a 1961 Oldsmobile F 85 wagon that my friend has at a local body shop. On behalf of my friend who was ripped off of 40 grand, I'm trying to recoup some of his loss.
The car is a factory air 4 door wagon that is at Saticoy Auto shop in Saticoy Ca. My friend (age 90) loaned 90K on a handshake to the owner, Adolfo and only received about 50K back. The shop was supposed restore the wagon for the balance.
The shop disassembled the car, partially primered the exterior, removed all trim and drivetrain then let it sit for a few years. "Adolfo won't pay back the money, so the car and parts were removed. We would like to find someone who wants a clear titled project car and desire
to put the car back together. We have photos of all parts included and wondered if trying to sell the car here or BAT or Haggerty might draw more attention. Comments other than how someone can loan someone 90K on a handshake screwed up but something actually constructive.
I've included pictures of the car before the people at Saticoy Body Shop disassembled it and some of the current pictures. There are numerous other pictures upon request. Original
Post ads on all the free car sale venues with a price that he can live with including this sites classified section and hope for the best. It is not a sought after car and is quite the project, good luck.
Sadly this will be tough to get much out of with it apart like this. Did this car come from Wisconsin when he bought it. Can't be to many 1961 red wagons out there with A/C. If it did, I have driven this car before and wondered where it went to. I almost bought it. Anyway.... I really do hope for the best for him but with it apart it will only be a lower to mid 4 digit price tag.
That's a bummer your friend was scammed. Hopefully you can recover some money through the sale. Make sure you contact the local police department. Good luck.

I do believe it was from Wisconsin. The ad that was online represents a very similar car. He bought the car from someone who bought it from the ad, to the best of my knowledge.😀

Everything was done on a handshake and no paperwork. There is no proof that could be prosecuted. What happened to the day you did a deal on a handshake and had no problem? ( Probably went out with leaving your front door open on your house when away) !

I sure hope someone will buy it and put it back together. This car needs preserved. I would have been interested if it had not be taken apart and primered. This car was at the 2015 OCA Nationals and very pure still.

Let's be real here. There never was such a day. Not for people who are careful.
It's very sad to hear what happened to your friend. It's going to be difficult to sell that car for any kind of money because it's tough to attract interest in cars that are in a million pieces when you're not the person who took it apart.
I certainly doubt you'll get $40,000, even if it were complete and in pristine condition. In that condition, the car might be worth something in the mid-teens. Right now, it's probably worth a few thousand at most, IF you can find someone interested enough in it. Get what you can for it, and chalk the rest up to experience.
I have all of these parts and want them to go to a good home and not in the trash. If you want the parts without the car, give me a legitimate offer. Must go.

Do you have a price for the entire car and parts? I never did see a price.
It was $3500, but any reasonable offer will be accepted, thanks.
I sure wish you were not 2400 miles away. That and I just bought a 72 442 project that will have my attention. This car so needs preserved. I will pass some of the information on to the 61-63 Facebook group. If you are on Facebook you should post it there, I suspect it would sell much easier there.
